Superb Reference Book!
Bought this book to study OUTLOOK 2010 as I went from an older version of OUTLOOK (without the ribbon). Since I had been using OUTLOOK for many years, I just needed to learn the changes and where the commands resided with the ribbon. With the help of this book, just reading it one night, and then the next day installing OUTLOOK 2010, I was ready to go! Everything went great without even a hiccup and I was able to get into OUTLOOK 2010 and get everything I needed to setup in no time with the help of this superb book! I was able to install my email accounts, and since I had my existing contacts already on my Windows Phone 6.5 with Outlook, I simply synced the contacts into my OUTLOOK 2010 PC in minutes! Then I added appointments into my laptop and then synced them into my phone! Have been doing this every day with no problems at all! This is a PERFECT version of OUTLOOK and this book has been such a help. It is perfect for reference and I have been referring to it when needed. One more thing that I will add is this: The Microsoft Step by Step Series, I have bought and referred to for many years--especially when I purchase a updated version to a software such as MS Office, Outlook and more. I have found that these books have the easiest to follow instructions in the business! A highly recommended book!

Good Book
Microsoft Outlook 2010 Step by Step is a very good reference and instruction book for MS Outlook 2010. I actually haven't used Outlook in a few years, so it was a good catcher upper, and even though I now own MS Outlook 2013 (no books on it yet), this book worked just fine for my version. It's very detailed with tons of helpful graphics and designs and I found nearly everything I needed to find in the book, with one exception that I had to Google. It's a pretty exhaustive book and most readers will likely find it more than suits their needs for learning this program. Recommended.

name says it all- "step by step"
The Microsoft Office 2010 Step by Step series is by far the most easy to understand, careful and methodical learning guide I have ever encountered for any computer software learning. Complete with pictures to aid in showing the reader exactly what their computer should look like if they followed the steps correctly, it makes no assumptions about the individual user's computer savvy- instead defaulting to the position that they know nothing about computers (the way any good computer learning guide SHOULD be written). This series if FAR better than the so called 'for dummies' series, which always left me even more confused after I forced myself to read the first few chapters. I have two of the complete series of books on Microsoft Office 2010, Access 2010 and Outlook 2010. I fully intend to buy the rest of them as soon as I finish devouring these. This series actually makes learning fun. I highly recommend it.

OUTLOOK 2010
I have been having PC problems and my Outlook 2007 on PC and Outlook 2010 on laptop needed fixing. The laptop needed to be totally set up and aspects still do. I used Step by Step to trouble shoot the PC problems and it's working well. I wouldn't be here writing this review if it didn't.Whether your installing OUTLOOK 2010 or trouble shooting it. Step by Step is a handy tool. Not as good as having a PC Guru sitting there fixing it, but better that sitting there cussing at the screen.

Very Useful/
This is a well written and very useful book. When I bought Outlook 2010 I did not expect an email client to be so complicated and probably would not have bought it if I had known I would need a book to figure out how to use it. I had bought another book on the same subject, published by Microsoft, that lacked details and was poorly organized. This book is much better than Microsoft's version.

... or other files by describing what each option does better instead of leaving it a completely mystery or partial ...
This book could have been more specific about how to do things in Outlook especially about how to import and export contacts or other files by describing what each option does better instead of leaving it a completely mystery or partial mistery.

Not worth it
Overall I found this book to be very unhelpful and very confusing. The authors seemed bogged down by detail and could not describe the benefits of Outlook in a very clear manner. It didn't seem to me they worked with Outlook in a corporate setting as users but instead simply went through the motions of explaining every possible feature. I wondered if I had the same program as they worked with, as we didn't seem to be on the same page from the start, and I'm thinking they jumped from topic to topic too quickly. I have liked other texts on computer software I have bought through Amazon, but not this one. I'd give it two stars.

Not a quick reference tool
Too early to tell but I couldn't just flip to the answer. This will take time to plod through. Probably worth the time but I need the answers now. I went out and bought another book to fill that need. With respect, it will probably be very helpful when I actually have time to go through it step by step.

Step by Step offer the best Office guide books out there in my opinion
Love the Step by Step books. I decided to take the Microsoft Master qualification for Office 10 and these books were instrumental in me learning everything I needed to know. To me, they weren't boring, there were so many things that I picked up from them that I use to save time now. Once I got the qualification out of the way, I keep the books at work to jog my memory. They're sectioned off really logically and the index works well for when you want to look up how to do something specific.

Oulook 2010 Step by Step
This manual arrived ahead of schedule as is the norm for Amazon - well done.It is full of immense detail on the software, which is very useful, but as is often the case with this type of book, the particularly awkward problems you experience are not always addressed and it's sometimes difficult to get to the exact location in the book to answer a question you may have. However, having said that it is a very useful reference and one which I will no doubt dip into from time to time.

Outlook 2010 Step by Step
very good and clear basic guide, but doesn't cover more advanced topics, and there are several notable ommissions, which to some extent are shortcomings in the program, e.g. macros / visual basic, and message editing screen defaults

Excellent
Just the ticket and arrived extremely quickly. Clear and accessible to dip into as I gradually learn to do all the things I used to know. Would definitely recommend this bookl
