Nice book easy to read clear directions.

This pattern book is amazing. The patterns are easy to follow. There is a separate section for each size range - like a little mini book for each size. From age 5 to X Large sizes. At the front of the book you have the instructions for the sweaters, then later on are the graphs to follow for each sweater. These graphs are double the page size, folded over. You are meant to cut the chart out and there is a storage section at the back of the book for charts. What a brilliant idea! So often with knitting books I am struggling to find my place on the graph in a book (and I am a very experienced knitted) , or have to photocopy a working chart. This book does it all for you. All of the charts fit every sweater pattern, so you select your size, select the pattern chart, and you’re set to start. I wish all knitting books were like this. The larger sizes have the full picture knit and the smaller ones have part of the picture knit. There are charts included for both. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. You may gather, I like this book.

Just a little disappointed with this book: I thought the designs were OK, and they have done the job I wanted which was to enable me to make Christmas jumpers for the family. However, the knitting instructions leave a lot to be desired. I've been knitting for over 40 years and consider myself experienced which is just as well: I've found a couple of places where I have had to do something different to the instruction to make it work, and the shapings are just so unnecessarily complicated. For example, I worked out on one sweater that rather than follow the instructions of decreasing for the armhole fairly randomly after the initial 'cast off' of 3 stitches, that I could simply decrease each end of every alternate row instead which was far simpler and made no discernible difference to the outcome as the same number of stitches were decreased over the same number of rows. Disappointing, really, from a 'published' book rather than from a download (where you tend to expect it).

Great little book knitted two of these jumpers for my grandchildren in time for Christmas and they loved them! Plenty of scope/ideas for knitting more next year.

I like the patterns, they are great designs. However, the instructions for the childrens sizes (I haven't tried the adult ones) are poor. The sleeves just don't work. If you have the correct tension and follow the given instructions, the sleeves end up far too long and the increases are just nonsense. I suspect the author didn't account for the rib in the calculations. BE WARNED. You will need to make adjustments if the basic patterns are to work.
