Most improved Warriors game
If you have ever played any of the Warriors games, you know exactly what to expect. They haven't changed the formula much for any of them, but that's also why they have such a dedicated following. This however, is probably the most innovative one yet. The different modes, weapons, attacks, and variety of characters add a lot of fun to it. Split screen multiplayer is also a lot of fun. The game also has online multiplayer and sadly there is a glitch that makes it impossible to play online for many of the levels. The game is also easy to recommend for people who are into Japanese history at all.

SW returns to Playstation!
I was extremely excited to hear the news that Samurai Warriors was making a return to Playstation and on the PS4 at that! I've been playing since Samurai Warriors 2/Empires/XL and I even backtracked to the first game because I enjoyed the series so much. I'm almost completely done with the game and I must say, I'm impressed with the visuals when other characters start talking to each in the new dialogue scenes. CAW is here and stronger than ever! Chronicle Mode is a CAW experience where you take your character all through Japan on a map and meet and befriend other officers and learn their stories. In this mode, you can purchase new armors for your warrior and you can edit your warrior at any time outside of battle. Your warrior will have special dialogue scenes with officers where you have to choose a response; responses are either good or bad. This is truly an exciting way to see your warrior come to life in the game instead of just battling all the time. A lot of DLC has already been released for the game and I'ce managed to get a few packs. For me, personally, I didn't like some of the extra armor packs you can buy for your CAW; I only invested in one. They have a horse set (and 2 stand-alone packs) that offer some mystical design horses to give your game a fantasy appeal. The stats on the horses are almost perfect, but still not as good as Matsukaze. Still, I recommend this DLC because not only is it just $2.99 for the set, it adds 4 new horses and instead of having all your officers ride Matsukaze, you can switch it up with these new horses. Next on the DLC list, they have the Weapon Set (also stand-alones) that allow you to access to level 5 weapons instantly instead of waiting for someone to upload a guide on how to get the level 4 weapons or grinding in Chronicle Mode. It makes the game really easy, but I decided to buy this pack after I completed most of tbe game and went back through to train all my characters. I have not played any of the new scenario packs but I plan on buying them all because it adds to Story Mode. To extrapolate, if you are a hack and slash fan who enjoys any of the warriors series or maybe you like ninjas and samurai, this is definitely your game. I leave the rest of the game for you to discover!

Has serious online issues but still fun
I just got the game and played it a couple times for several hours already so obviously it's enjoyable. However, the only reason I bought it was for the online cooperative play through the modes. In both story mode and free mode me and my buddy found that it only let's us play the Legend of Kanto missions. When trying to connect on any other mission in any mode for coop, it gives an error message. The online is broken and we both discovered this as soon as we got the game and tried playing the first time. It has been broken since it was released a year ago and still is with no efforts it seeks to fix it according to message boards online. So, if you want this game, only get it if you planned on going solo. Otherwise it's a beautifully made game. Smooth, and still addicting.

This is a great sequel however I have a few minor problems with it. 1) I like that the story is more focused on the Clans but I also dislike it because there's no what if scenario's which I think they should bring back, while there are battles you can go into from another clans perspective if it involves someone that originally fought with whatever clan's story you're doing it's not the same as a what if scenario like in previous games. 2) Not much weapon variety, or rather what I mean to say is that you don't really get different weapons. In previous Samurai Warriors games, you'd start off with a level 1 weapon but then after a battle you get a level 2 weapon and it was different, stronger and may have attributes that improves your characters abilities when equipped. In SW4 you get the same weapon each time (Unless it's the ultimate weapon for that character or a DLC weapon) and it's base attack and or attributes are different with the possibility of being able to upgrade them. While it doesn't take away from gameplay, I think it would've been nice to see characters using a new weapon each time they've obtained one that wasn't a level 1 weapon. 3) Charaters do not use all of their musou bars like in previous titles either they use one each time and in my opinion it just isn't great but in no way does it detract from the games experience. Now on to the things I like about this game. 1) The combat has been beefed up quite a bit. Charge attacks have been changed to now allow you to chain attack multiple enemies at once so you can now clear up crowds with ease. 2) Chronicle mode is extremely fun it's almost like a story mode for your create a warrior but with mini scenarios that are based on your choices. 3) Level designs are amazing this game just looks breath taking from snowy mountain environments, to castles there's no doubt that this is the best looking SW game to date! So that's basically my thoughts on the game and I would highly recommend this game to fans of the series and to new comers!

Original is always the best.
The best entry of the Samurai Warriors series, classic yet improved game-play, great stage and characters design and an awesome music selection makes for an excellent game that veterans and newcomers alike will enjoy. If you are interested in one version of the fourth game, get this one, none of the others are nearly as good as the original.

Play Dynasty Warriors 8 instead.
Good graphics. Gameplay is very repetitive and the way you level characters is horrendous. Story is pretty lack-luster. Other modes are boring.Play Dynasty Warriors 8 instead.

Great game
If you just want to lay back and wade through a sea of enemies and wreck them all this game is perfect. However, you're not completely immortal so the game can still keep you on your toes. I've racked up to the cap of 9999 combos. There's a lot of characters to choose from which is great. I forgot how many but probably at least 50 and you can make several of your own, I think it was 20. Different game modes telling of the history of Japan. The game modes actually affect one another so you can keep the items and level up your characters using any game mode. No complaints.
