In 1937, Victorinox began selling cutlery in the USA through Connecticut distributor R.H. Forschner & Co. Forschner, a famous butcher scale, quickly became the exclusive distributor of Victorinox knives and is known as the name of Victorinox knives.

In 2011, Victorinox began selling a full line of products including kitchen knives. The company is now widely known and the popular name of umbrella, Victorinox Swiss Army. Today, Victorinox Swiss Army is still selling a few accessories including the High Heat Turner series under the Forschner.

Victorinox Swiss Army recommends washing all knives by hand. For best results, hand wash the knife with a soap cloth and dry immediately.

Dishwasher safe
Swiss Classic knives are dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended as the dishwasher is designed to spray water at relatively high pressure. This can cause the silverware to crash and dull the edges.

Maintains knife edge
For optimal performance, you need to sharpen the knife every few uses. While using honing steel properly and frequently will keep your knives sharper and performing at its best, honing steel will not sharpen a dull knife. Honing steel is a maintenance tool that helps prevent an already sharp blade from deteriorating When in use, direct contact with cutting board, bone, or other hard objects will cause the knife to curl or spin around In this case, you will need honing to straighten the edge of the knife. If you use it too much, the steel particles will be damaged, and the edge cannot be returned during honing, so you need to sharpen. If your knife is dull, punctured, or visible scratches on the edge of the blade, you may need to sharpen it with the Swiss Sharp Handheld Sharpener (49002) or take it to a professional to re-sharpen.

In 1884, Master Cutler Carl Elsenor opened a cutlery shop in Ibach, Switzerland. That's why he and his forming cutlery union created the finest steel cutlery with a unique edge that is now famous for the professional and home cooks worldwide favorite. In 1891, Karl served the standard Soldiers knife to the Swiss army and Officers knife in 1897.
