PACKAGE ALREADY OPENED
I was excited when the amazon package showed up. Ready to make some awesome Miso soup and seaweed salad with my Wakame. However, when I opened the package with my hands I noticed the back of the Wakame package had a giant cut though the back of it! Im so angry. Guess what? Since the item in the package is perishable there is NO return option. I will never order from River Colony Trading ever again and I suggest you dont either. Unless you want to end up like me with $12 less and no Wakame. It's really the perfect scam if you think about it. I hope people see the truth for what River Colony Trading really is. I wish they would go broke and hungry for a day, just like I was because my package had already been opened.

great taste and perfect for snacking
I purchased the three varieties of Iceland seaweed available here: Kelp, Dulse, and Wakame. I have yet to try the Kelp (I purchased it for use in beans and for dashi broth) and found the Dulse extremely salty (compared to the Maine Coast Dulse that I also purchased, and which was more minerally-sweet than salty), but I really enjoyed the Wakame. I have yet to cook with this Wakame like a serious adult. I did, however, pan toast a few strips in a bit of olive oil (gnawing on a raw piece was very difficult, as it felt more like a chew toy than like something that would eventually biodegrade). This made a fantastic snack that was incredibly crunchy and flavorful, with no need for salting. I have not tried soaking this Wakame yet (or the Dulse, for that matter). Until I figure out how else to best use this Wakame (salads? soups? beans?), I highly recommend it for toasting, as a snack (specially when the price bounces back down to $7.00 or lower for this 1.76 ounce bag) ; )

Amazing flavor!
This wakame is so much better than any I have tasted. I'm not sure why, but the wakame from the Pacific Ocean has a terrible dirty seawater taste. The wakame from Iceland has a pure, clean yummy taste. Honestly, I hated paying this much for it but was just so unhappy with everything else I tried. Plus, I was concerned about all the pollution and radiation on the west coast. I haven't tried the wakame from the east coast, but felt that industrial pollution is just as bad there. If you want the best, this is it, hands down, no contest.

I didn't need to add much salt thanks to the seaweed and it adds a nice "seafood chowder" flavor without being overpowering
I made a big batch of broccoli kale soup and used a package of this wakame in it. It is delicious! I didn't need to add much salt thanks to the seaweed and it adds a nice "seafood chowder" flavor without being overpowering. I soaked it for a few minutes before adding it to the pan with broccoli and kale. It all went in the blender, so can't comment on the texture, but it is big sheets and difficult to cut through without soaking it. For something to sprinkle over salads, I'd go with the dulse. Otherwise, this is gorgeous seaweed with a nice, mild flavor.

bad batch?
Not sure what happened but about 1/2 pretty much fell completely apart into broken up bits rehydrating in cold clear water after 1/2 hour. The rest seemed fine but kind of turned me off to eating any of it as came apart like lettuce that went bad.

the "real deal" and SAFE !!
This is real Wakame from the Atlantic waters, and not Alaria! All the nutrition without the toxins that you will get in the seaweed from Japan and China Pacific waters. Will definitely order all of my Wakame from this company going forward!!

superior wakame
I ordered this product first of all because - unlike other wakame products available on amazon as far as I could tell - it is _not_ from China. Nothing against Chinese producers of sea vegetables but I am skeptical of their products' purity given widespread reports of pollutants dumped into the local rivers, estuaries, etc. I've always bought wakame of Japanese brands but recently noticed that the description on the label of one of the leading (top 2 or 3) Japanese producers of wakame, in my cupboard, states that the product is "prepared and packaged in our factories under strict supervision" but doesn't say it's 'from' Japan - and I suspect this means it's sourced from China. That said, the Icelandic wakame in question here is exquisite. I'd never thought to stop and savor something as quotidian as wakame but this variety is enough to make one a connoisseur.

Good product
I blend a few strips in a blender as a iodine supplement for my daily smoothy, dr. Greger at NutricianFacts.org recommended this for other benifits as well
