This turned out to be a great therapy for my eczema. It is affordable and has proven to be good quality.

I bought this on sale for about $32. I am really pleased with the general quality for that price. It doesn't look like it is just going to melt down immediately. It is a 5 volt device so you can plug in to AC or use it with any 5 volt usb back up battery which is pretty cool. This is a light mat, not a heating pad, although the lights do get warm eventually, it is a completely different animal. I was looking for a therapy device and I had heard some things about red/infrared light so I bought this. I really knew very little about how it works. The mat has both red light and infrared light bulbs. You can use either or both at the same time. The device defaults to red/infrared at the same time for 30 minutes timer at level 3 intensity. This is a dangerous setting and one reason I give less than 5 stars. Infrared will give effects in as little as 1 minute. (I studied up after the purchase). The timers settings break down to 5 minutes intervals starting at 5 minutes and going to 30 minutes. It would be nice if the timer broke down to minute intervals, but I can live with 5 minute intervals. You wouldn't want to use 30 minutes unless you were only doing red light. Then there are the intensity levels. High intensity will go through light clothing. This is a light mat not a heating pad, so you want the light effect. It does not need to touch your body, and indeed is more effective, if the mat is not touching your body. In clinical situations they use expensive rigid light panels that do not touch the body at all. The mat is a sort of stiffened soft covered foam that will bend, so nice to wrap around an elbow or something or loosely around the curve of your neck. I bought the smallest one and I like the size. I had a really great effect doing 9 minutes around my throat and on my jaw for some dental problems and the effect was euphoric and diminshed precipitously after 9 minutes, and having over exposed before, I knew to turn if off. I had less dramatic effects with some tendonitis at my elbow. I overexposed, fried my elbow on the 30 minutes default setting the first time. Don't do it! This device a great way to inexpensively get in on red/infrared light therapy, but definitely go study up on medical effects. There is a big learning curve. Look for medical and clinical use and observations, not reviews. YouTube is good. This light mat does not come with much directions and the default setting is dangerous.

I’ve never had one of these before so admittedly I didn’t know what to look for. I knew I wanted adequate coverage for what I would use it for (my back and knees mainly), and I wanted a little heat and maybe a bit of vibration, although that feature wasn’t top of my list. This came in a box already installed so I didn’t need to figure out how to use it, it was easy, I just plugged it into the outlet and it was good to go. It’s lightweight and comfortable, a plus for the velcro strap to keep it in place. I’ve been using this for a couple of months on a regular basis and moved on to every day use. It’s durable and hasn’t cracked, torn, or been weird on me- and I’ve pulled and pulled on the strap to tighten it. It’s little remote has several settings, but I normally keep it on a 3 (which seemed to be the standard setting) and sometimes I use a 4 when I’m in pain. You can also program how long you’d like to use it for. I use it for around 30min because the heat feels so good that the 20min I started with doesn’t seem to be long enough. It works well on everything; I’ve used it on my forearm when my carpal tunnel began to flare up again, I’ve used it on my shoulder, my back, and my knees. It has adequate coverage for me to cover both knees at the same time. I like that I also get some heat while using it- although it’s not supposed to function as a heating pad. When I’m done using it I have more mobility. It feels like it penetrates to my muscles and I get some pain relief. It’s great for my self care routine and I love it
