I knew this would be a cheap solution from the beginning, but I was far from impressed. I am 6'3" and 245 lbs, so I should be able to walk with these on across the yard and dig deep due to my weight. Sadly, after the first line across the yard, these shoes had picked up so much mud, that the nails were not digging deep enough into the soil. It's easy to walk across the sidewalk as long as you walk heel to toe. This didn't work at all for my yard - next year I will spring for the heavy duty rolling aerator and just use that. Save your money and your time and skip this product.

I asked for these for xmas, and just finally got to use them. I am a lady- and this will give you a nice work out. Its spring time in my area, so the ground is just thawing out . I did wait for a couple of days of it being sunny and about 60° plus letting it rain before using them. Overall I had really no problem with them. All the nails stayed in and went through the grass. The straps you have to adjust every once in a while because they do loosen up . My straps were also long so what I did was just tie them all together. I did not want to cut them because I thought they might unravel.

Product seems to work well enough. Would be much easier to use if someone made such a shoe with Velcro straps. Came with some extra spikes and a small wrench - glad to see. Notice that the only thing holding the back of your shoes from slipping out is the raised back - if that was higher, the shoes would hold one's feet better. Looks like all of the products online have the similar "defects" and ratings.

Great for painting the ceiling. I put these on and am able to walk all over the house ceilings and get a good coat of paint on. Make life much easier. Actually I really do use them in the yard. They are fine. It’s a leg workout though! They tend to stick in the yard and you have to pull hard to get them out. Does the job though and saves from having to get the yard service to do it.

Came assembled already and none of the spikes broke off after doing the whole yard. I was afraid after seeing a few of the reviews. They even give you extra spikes if some do break. We'll see next spring if it really helped my yard but so far so good!

They would work great if they had better strap system, the strapped loosen and come off... I’ve had them for a long time, tried to use them twice then gave up. Too late to return or I would have returned it.

I selected this based on the reviews it received. They are difficult to put on and take off. The clip systems is well made that keeps the straps tight. But the shoes move and the spikes hold a lot of hard debris and dirt. They become very heavy. I would stick to another type of aerator.

A couple this with this product. 1. It was hard to keep on my shoes. 2. Instead of just aeratoring the lawn it was really ripping it up in parts. I ended up buying a manual aerator, it takes about the same amount of time.
