A very hand bit of kit
This is not a bargain at first glance but when you consider the value of your time and how much this saves you over the long haul it is worth it. I have one in each of three tool boxes. To keep things honest this is a review of the Screw Chek'r Metric Screw Thread Size Gauge No. 2 (8MM to 14MM). I bought it and use it regularly. No one has paid me to say anything herein.

well made - accurate
This is my third Screw Chek'r. My first is probably 20 years old. I have the two smaller ones, both SAE and Metric. This one expands my ability to sort and organize my metric hardware. Because both our daily drivers are mostly, if not all metric, this tool became a necessity. Like my others, it's well made. You can wreck the threads if you try to force a screw into the wrong hole, but the idea is to gently start the screw into the place you think is correct. If it binds quickly, you've got the wrong one. Back it out and try the next one. All the most common sizes are there as well as some you may not ever see unless you have thousands of fasteners, like I do. The price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

Industrial grade large size metric bolt thread checker.
1/8" thickness (0.12 inch) verified with caliper. This tool appears to be well-designed and robust. The listing claims that the finish is satin chrome plating. Not sure about that; if so it is unlike any satin chrome in my experience, but would result in a very touch finish. Polished chrome would be nice but probably impractical (but not impossible) to polish the threaded portions. I will visist the hardware store metric fastener section with the tool to confirm the accuracy of all thread pitch sizes. If the sizes/pitches are all accurate, this tool is a very nice bargain. If not, I will edit this review.

Checks the size of larger Metric machine screws.
Like the other two Screw Chek'r Size Guages, the Screw Chek'r Metric Screw Thread Size Gauge No. 2 (8MM to 14MM) does what it is supposed to do. I reviewed the other two more thoroughly, mostly because I used them much more than this model. I find it much easier to sort larger machine screws just by appearance, especially when I have a known example. So I do not need this quite as much as the SAE and small Metric versions. This model works great and does what it is supposed to do. Like the other two, It is about 1/8 inch thick, which is enough to verify thread pitch. I think it will last me a long time if I take reasonable care of it.

Gauge completes the set
A maker of things mechanical should have first, the SAE/Inch Screw Checker (#1 - 5/16") - Made in USA and second, Metric Screw Checker (2mm to 7mm) -...

Eliminates Trial and Error
I purchased this after getting frustated trying to find replacement bolts/screws I needed for various at home projects. I've always hated having to go search through my "junk drawer" and then use the "trial and error" method when it comes to finding a replacement bolt/screw. It was even worse when I was working on my car (which uses metric bolts) causing me to make several visits to the auto parts store and hardware store with the bolt in hand trying to find a replacement. This tool makes it real easy to confidently identify the bolt/screw you have and ether order it online or go to the parts store. You don't even have to worry about getting the bolt size right but being off on the screw pitch since this tools lets you figure that out as well. I would definitley recommend this tool to anyone. It's not only well made but also (surprisingly) made in the USA.

Pretty awesome
Like many DYI or tinkerers, I have a ton of screws and bolts laying around, usually in cans, jars, or something other unsorted pile. This screw checker helps me sort them all out, so I can organize them into correct sizes, and know if I need to make trip to the hardware store or not. It's also very helpful if a screw gets lost and I don't know what the size was but have one of the same type. Being made of metal, it holds up really well, can be stuck to my toolbox with a magnet, and cleans the threads on the old crusty screws in a decent enough manner. The small size and hard material let it sit in travel toolbox easily without worry of it getting damaged. Overall, very quality item.

Made of a type of steel and 1/8 inch thickness.
With M10 bolts having 4 different thread pitches available this will inform you on what you have there, before you head to the parts store. My correct tap won't hand-turn through it ,too large, but I think that's down to tap classes and thread root-and-crown specs. I don't have a degree in this, or speak it fluently. Could well be my M10-1.0 tap needs some wear on it, too new. It's not for sizing taps, but sizing bolts and it does this perfectly.
