25215 Sun and Shade Mix Northwest Lawn Seed Blanket , Green , 25 sq ft roll

I tried to use this product to grow grass on a hillside where some ruts had formed. I placed new soil in the ruts and placed this product. It was exceedingly hard to put down because it tore so easily and staking it per the video was impossible because the backing is so soft and has near zero tensile strength. In addition, who’s genius idea was it to tape the roll closed with tape having 10 times the strength of the soft material? The probability of this working is near zero if you place it on a hillside and it rains before the roots are established. It’s actually a good idea but executed so poorly as to be a total waste of time and money.

There were very mixed reviews for this product, so I was a little hesitant to try it, but most of the problems people mentioned seemed to come from not following the instructions that came with it. Yes, it's very light in weight, but the directions say to secure it. We put small rocks on it, moved them every couple of days to allow sunlight to get to all areas. It also must be watered every day. We kept it almost saturated for 2 weeks, but now after 3-4 weeks, we're getting a nice healthy growth of grass. This product, used as directed, is a very good solution for patching small areas of lawn or, as in my case, for growing new grass in what had previously been a flower bed that I no longer wanted.

Grass did grow… very sparse. I do not recommend this product.

Big disappointment. I bought 3 blankets. One was a little torn up, had to patch it. Put it down over 3 weeks ago, I am just beginning to see a slight peach fuzz! I still had more area to cover, I spent $10.00 on a bag of Scott's patch master and could have done the whole area with 1 bag. What a waste of money!

Great instructions, easy to cut and place..and the grass is growing!! Would highly recommend!!
