so i had a 12 gallon suburban water heater for my grand junction and the thing just up and died, so i took up researching alternatives for the rv and what i could use to get hot water. ultimately i settled on the tankless water heater by girard. after looking around for a while i found this door, while it may not have an interior mold for the cutout it does join up with the water heater nicely after the water heater was already installed, it comes with some basic instructions on what to do to reinforce the stability of the water heater itself and the door. other than that the holes that are perforated inwardly are not threaded, so i suggest getting some self tapping screws around the same size as the hole so you can join the heater and door up properly! the other thing is that the soft mold insert that is used inside the exhaust port has to be moved slightly to fit the exhaust pipe when closing the door. the installation time took approximately an hour to do,provided i had all the tools i needed in place before starting and having to move the water heater and install a wood brace for the heater as well as siliconing the joint of the door. the surface of the mold for the door fits just fine with plenty of room around the original opening with an inch or so to spare. if anyone has questions feel free to ask.

I'm a builder and use residential (electric) versions similar to this unit in most of my projects. My only complaint is that it can take as many as 5 seconds for the unit to fire but turns off almost instantly as soon as you cut the water off. This leads to warm, cold, warm, cold cycles say when you're washing dishes. It's just something you have to get used to. However, It beats the hell out of my old 10 gal electric/gas unit! Taking 15 or 20 minute showers in a camper is definitely a luxury. Also, the door sold as a separate item should be included and is way overpriced compared to the reasonable price of the heater. Therefore, only 4 stars.

When our hot water heater caught fire, we needed to switch out for a tankless system. The door that came with the system did not fit as we were placing a SW10 system. Thankfully after reading some reviews and double checking the sizing on another website, we took a chance and order this one. It fit perfect and all we needed to do way frame in the new tank so it wouldn't slide around!

I searched and searched and could not find anything for the 12-Gal Suburban water heater. This door works for both the 10 +12 gallon Suburban water heaters. Buy with confidence.

Exactly what we needed, fit perfectly, looks great, easy to install. (We watched a YouTube on how to do it and that helped)

after searching the manufacturers web page i discovered i ordered the wrong cover plate ,10 gallon not a 6 as first thought, after mixup the new one fit like a charm and is well made for purpose .

Amazon didn't have a black door so I had to sand and paint it black. It fit perfect. Still didn't see why this door didn't come with the on demand water heater.
