Nice Book that I Will Never Use
Note: This is an opinion from an American and the book is about building a camper in the UK.Well this is fun reading and dreaming. There is no way an amateur could do what the authors did and that is too bad. For those experienced in car body repair, carpentry and many other skills, you should be able to use the book to at least get started. Without being a near expert in all this, you probably will have trouble. Also, many people will face their neighbors wrath if they decided to build it in the back yard. There will be a real racket and two RVs in the yard for awhile.Without doubt, however, the book is put together very nicely. All the pictures from the cover to seeing the final product are excellent and clear. The book is a large format paperback and has good binding and heavy paper. There is some English slang that might make those not in the UK wonder exactly what is being said, although those phrases can be passed over without missing the sense of the writing.

More "How We Did It" than "How 2 Do It"
This book is more about how to buy a cheap van & a cheap camping trailer ["caravan" in Brit-speak] & demolish the latter to use the parts to convert the former to a cramped camper.Frankly, it would make more sense to keep the van a van & use it to tow the camp trailer, since then you wouldn't have single purpose additional vehicle [ie, camper] & could use the van for hauling things. I guess it all comes down to how much space you have to park things & whether you can deal w/ towing a trailer [I admit it, I don't much care to do so]: sometimes you just can get a car&trailer combo rig into the same places you can get a camper in & out safely. This is very clearly written for the UK & European market: stateside, the RV industry is much more advanced, having undergone an explosion in popularity back in the 70s that wasn't echoed overseas for a couple of decades at least. While I enjoyed reading about how this shed tinkerer went about making his own van conversion, the book was somewhat dependent upon adapting pre-made fixtures from the dismantled trailer than it was about fabricating your own pieces to fit in a vehicle [ie, true DIY.] Here in the U.S., it probably makes more financial sense to just look for a professionally-done van conversion on the used market.Nevertheless, the book is well-illustrated and -written.
