Fascinating
This is by far the most fascinating Lebanese cookbook and about an aspect of it, preserving (or mouneh), that is very rarely documented.

Wonderful, amazing cookbook, PLUS stunning overview of the Levant!
This is an absolutely wonderful and amazing cookbook, PLUS stunning history, culture and spirit of the Levant via Massaad,s exquisite photography and storytelling! I only received it earlier this week, so have not tried any of the recipes, yet. But since I have two earlier books of Massaad's, I feel confident of the quality. Also, important, is that Massaad seems mostly to be interested in principle, like ethics and promoting philanthropy, east / west understanding and peace: A widely acclaimed early, international book is "Soup for Syria", which proceeds go for the ongoing relief efforts to benefit the more than 5 million current Syrian refugees, for example! I highly recommend both this and ALL Barbara Abdeni Massaad's books!

Even better than I expected
This book is amazing! My Lebanese grandmother lived by preserving her foods because it was a way of self reliance. This helps fill in so many gaps when trying to recreate some of her recipes. Thank you for writing this book Barbara. I can’t imagine the amount of work and time it took to compile such an accurate reflection of the recipes and culture!

Grab this book when you can!!!
Because it's a limited edition, it can be difficult to acquire. I "lurked" for a good while, waiting for this to show up again!! And if the book isn't what you wanted, there will be someone out there who's looking for it! Gorgeous photography; well written, especially the personal stories.. Some may find the information too vague; if you're looking for very specific information, this probably isn't the book for you. But, it does give very good guidelines for preserving foods.Some of which may apply to your (local) area, others not so much. For some, it will be very labor/time-intensive. This book is more about the traditional methods, as opposed to methods using (lots of) technology. Which I really want to explore! I really like how she used the seasons as well as the months that the chosen foods are listed under. Because I'm in a different country, different things will be available at different times, but that'll be part of the fun! And it's given me ideas about other things in my area to look at preserving , as well as things try. I'll start small, and see how it works out! I'm looking forward to the journey through this book. The author put much time and effort into this book, and I only wish I could've been there as well! Thank you Ms. Abdeni Massaad!!!!!

Unique would buy it again
I love the book. It arrived with the binding coming apart but I like the book so mush I didn't want to return it because I wanted to keep looking at it lol. Now it's too late to exchange, oh well. Love the book and it's different than the other books in it's genre. I have many many books on the subject.
