"Adjustable" parts break easily or are missing on arrival
I purchased the ACF Speed Jump Rope because it is described as adjustable and I'm 5'2", so I knew I would need a shorter jump rope than the normal length. When I received my jump rope, I followed the instructions that are posted here on Amazon in the "Questions" section for adjusting the rope to a shorter length. Unfortunately, the parts inside of the handle that are supposed to make the rope adjustable are extremely cheap and one handle was missing a part. Each handle should have a small plastic clamp that "holds" the rope and also a small plastic sleeve that slides over the clamp and prevents the rope from pulling through the handle. The first speed jump rope I received was missing the sleeve part in one handle so the rope would just fall right out of the handle. I fixed this by simply tying a knot in the rope and then stuffing it back into the handle. It seems to work, but I expect more from a $12.95 jump rope when similar ropes are readily available at $5-8. I contacted ACF via email and their customer service was great. ACF responded within a few hours, refunded the purchase price, and gave me my choice of two jump ropes to replace the first one. I chose the speed jump rope again in hopes that the first one was just a fluke and the second one would be fine. The second speed jump rope arrived today with the exact same problem...one handle missing the black plastic sleeve that slides over the plastic clamp, causing the rope to pull right through the bottom of the handle. Once again, I tied knots in the rope to stop the rope from pulling through the handle. In addition, one of the plastic clamps was on the verge of splitting open upon arrival and will not withstand even the slightest tug at the bottom of the handle.Overall, the ACF Speed Jump Rope is a very cheaply made product that's not really adjustable because the parts required for adjustment are either missing or so flimsy that you wouldn't get many adjustments before the parts break. On the positive side, the rope spins very fast with ease and I'm guessing the cord is durable, but haven't had it long enough to test it. The handles are also comfortable.ACF's customer service was great and I ended up with two jump ropes for free. Neither rope is adjustable without having to untie the knots and redo each knot at whatever length I want. Fortunately, I don't really plan to adjust the rope length. Overall, this is just not a product I would recommend because the price is quite high for a very cheaply made jump rope.

Perfect jump-rope for growing teenager.
Most of the other jump-ropes I've researched are adjustable in only one direction - shorter. I needed a jump rope for a teenager who is growing rapidly. This one allows us to tie a knot and store the excess leather cord in the handles. Six months from now it can easily be un-knotted to accommodate his growth. In addition, leather is so much better than PVC, metal covered in plastic and other man-made materials because it has fewer kinks, and a heft to it that improves the swing of the "rope." We doused it with a good amount of neets-foot oil, an age-old leather preservative, which not only conditions the leather, making it supple and flexible, but will extend its life. The handles are just the right size for a man's hand, requiring no effort to hold, and the bearings in them make for a very quick pace. The one complaint is the rust visible on the crude clamp inside the handles. Crude because it's nothing more than a bolt-washer bent over itself trapping the cord. Since none of this is visible from the outside, however, it's a minor point worth mentioning only as a hint to the manufacturer; use a stainless-steel washer for a few cents more and avoid an unpleasant review. All in all, this is a good jump-rope, and will certainly last the normal teenager's attention-span for most new endeavors. Should jump-roping become a part of his permanent exercise routine (and once he stops growing so rapidly), other rope materials might be explored and preferred; however, for now, the tried and true leather cord continues to be a good material.

Can't adjust rope length
I'm amazed at all the positive reviews given my experience. I couldn't adjust the rope length. Tried pushing the rope through the handles and it wouldn't budge more than 3/4". Peaking into the handles with the end caps off, it looks like there was a clamp blocking it from moving further. Either I got some fluke of a reject or no one else is trying to adjust their ropes. Gave up after my friends and I tried for 30 minutes, including trying tweezers. Sending back.---Update since my last review. I returned the jumprope and they emailed me to send me another one free of charge. The 2nd one also didn't adjust but perhaps was a shorter jump rope as I didn't need to adjust it. I'm 5'5". I've used it a couple times and it's fantastic! One of the best jump ropes I've ever used. Fits really comfortably in the hand, turns so smoothly, and has a nice weight to it without being heavy. So if you don't need to adjust this rope, I highly recommend.

Leather jump rope
I bought the leather jump rope thinking it would be heavier than the rest and less prone to kinks in the rope. Unfortunately the rope is lighter than I thought and the kinks are very prominent. I hope it gets better with continued use. I removed the insert once to adjust the length of the rope, but now the insert flies off when I use it; I've only used this thing on two separate days for about 30 min a session.Time will tell how durable the rope is. I've purchased two other top selling ropes from Amazon in the last year. Both were from different manufacturers. One was a speed rope, very thin and worked amazingly well, but the casing didn't last long. The other was similar to this rope and it was great at first, but the inserts popped off (like this jump rope), the foam handles wore out quick, and the rope itself was not durable for longer than one months use. I see the same pattern of wear on the base of this jump rope, so at the moment it's a concern.

Nice rope, may not suit all needs.
I got the leather rope hoping to do boxing style skipping. The rope is a bit lighter than I expected, so you have to work to get it going with any sort of speed and I'm not sure if it will be able to do criss-cross movements or things of that nature because it's kind of stiff, though maybe some break in will help. When it came in the box, the rope was coiled up and had to be wet with water and hung from my stairs to straighten the rope out. Overall the quality is pretty good just not sure it will meet the specific needs I'm looking for.
