IPS stands for In-plane Switching. An IPS monitor is a type of LCD (liquid crystal display). An IPS display monitor produces a much better image than an LED display because of accuracy and sharpness. VRM stands for Video Recording Manager which provides information on the system and limited options for replaying the recordings. (Not sure that I've ever used this.) All in all, I highly recommend this monitor because of the sharpness plus the "blue" screen which helps reduce eye strain.

What are the dimensions of the stand?

The base measures 8 1/2 inches across, it is round. There is about 2 1/2 inches of space between the round base the bottom of the monitor screen.
