Great birthday gift!
This was a great gift for a 9 year old's birthday party. Age appropriate, good quality, and they'll have a ton of fun!

Good, but some limitations
This is a delightful little collection of origami airplanes, many of which would appeal to children when completed. (I bought it to make airplanes for my children). The planes show a variety of constrution techniques and many of them include nice littel details, such as wings that swivel, cockpits that open and close, and landing gear that can be put up or down. The folding level is moderately complex, about on par with folding John Montroll models. There are some problems, however: in some cases the drawings are not clear (edges and creases use two different weights of lines that are difficult to tell apart and the drawings have not adopted the convention of showing shadows under paper edges); some folding sequences seem to have omitted steps (following the instructions in some steps cannot yield the diagrams that follow); and finally, there is sometimes rather sloppy use of terminology (e.g., a number of reverse folds are called squash folds - admittedly, they could be called either in these particular cases, but calling them squash folds does not describe the way most folder would make them). The result of some of these errors is that, in a few cases, I really wondered if anyone had tried to fold the aircraft using the folding sequences in the book, or it the author provided them and they were accepted without testing.I don't want the quibbles over the folding sequences and diagrams to deter anyone. Experienced folders will certainly be able figure things out in spite of the problems with the diagrams. Intermediate folders might have more trouble, but figuring out how to account for missing steps is a useful exercise for them and does offer its own rewards.Aside from these issues, the designs are fun and the book represents a nice contribution for folders at the high intermediate level looking for moderately challenging designs that can be completed fairly quickly (none of the designs in the book should take more than about half an hour for an accomplished folder). The book will probably have special appeal for 10-15 year old boys (not trying to be sexist here, but on the whole, that demographic is the most likely audience for the book) who have made Montroll's dinosaurs and other animals. If they are already on to Lang's insects, these designs might strike them as too easy, however. It is also good for me as the parent of small children who like to play with folded things since I can make the airplanes with out too much investment to worry if my son destroys one in a few minutes.

Three Stars
As others have written, the instructions are confusing. For advanced folders who can fill in the blanks!

Impossible...
Myself nor my kids have not been able to make one single plane from this book! Vague hard to follow instructions that seem to skip steps. Author should have supporting videos for these planes... Gave 2 stars because the price was reasonable. If I paid anything more for this I would be super upset.
