Millie Marotta's Wildlife Wonders: Favorite Illustrations from Coloring Adventures (A Millie Marotta Adult Coloring Book)

If you like highly detailed, elegant but whimsical drawings to color, this is the book for you. It's also a great intro to Millie Marotta's unique style. I've been a fan of hers almost from the beginning (I've been coloring as an adult since the early 1990's), and her style just appeals to me. I love the intricate detail, but everything makes sense. The images are frame-worthy, too -- really lovely. My only quibbles: 1) The images are printed on the fronts and backs of the pages, so you have the potential of losing a frameable image if a couple of your favorites are back-to-back. 2) Also, you'll probably want to use water-based markers, gel pens, or colored pencils for these as alcohol markers tend to bleed through and since the images are back-to-back, you risk losing a picture. All that aside, though, this is a beautiful collection and well worth the price. Highly recommended -- five stars.

If you are a Millie Marotta fan, or if you want to see what her books are all about, this is the book for you. She has compiled 110 of her "best-loved drawings from her five books - Animal Kingdom, Tropical World, Wild Savannah, Curious Creatures, and Beautiful Birds and Treetop Creatures. I just received my book about 5 minutes ago, so I have not colored any pictures yet. But I will include a couple of photos for those of you who are not familiar with her work. All of Millie's books are printed on heavy, bright white paper. The only unfortunate thing is that if you plan to use alcohol based markers, it is printed back to back. Alcohol markers always bleed through. Outside of that, MOST other coloring mediums can be used. I would always put a blotter underneath the page I am coloring and test any wet media for bleed through. The paper is absolutely wonderful for colored pencils. Love the intricacy of these designs. Coloring while watching television is my new favorite way to relax and avoid snacking while watching my favorite shows.

I love this author's coloring pages. She has produced at least 9 of this coloring books and I have collected about five. The paper is good. Some inks will bleed through but most of the medias I use do not bleed through. In the back of the books, she lists the names of the images which I think is very helpful. My only negative comment is that I wish some of her books were printed with one image per page, not double-sided.

I love love the coloring books by Millie they are so detailed and so fun to spend hours of relaxing moments just in your own thoughts and pen to paper. The only thing I thought odd was as I buy all the different Millie books I tend to see the same drawing images that I saw in her other books, and that kinda made me pause and think the reason I am buying the whole series is for the change of the things that I am coloring , with that said I could not be more pleased to give me a great page to create on.

I just got the book yesterday, and I tested a few different markers on the first page you can color. The arteza twimarkers, did bleed through some, they are a water based inks. I tried out the Arteza inkonic markers are I have had no bleed through with those markers. Normally I don’t care about bleed through if the pages aren’t double sided cause I use a blotter page in between. I am excited to color this book. I was looking for something fun and nature based and this page met the mark.

I love to color for relaxation, and Ms Marotta’s books are a perfect way for me to have fun with color! Sparkly bunnies, bright colored owls, or somewhat (clearly, I’m no expert…lol) more realistic flowers and plants. It’s all up to you on how creative you want to be. The drawings are detailed but manageable. This book (and her others) have a variety of drawings to color.. I’ve added a few examples of unfinished pages, and you’ll note there are also pages where you can add your own patterns or details. These examples are from a couple different books, but the books are similar in style. This book has only a handful of drawings that span 2 pages in which case the binding is a bit bothersome but still enjoyable (see example, grasshoppers). Recommend for anyone who enjoys coloring with colored pencils or gel pens. I have not tried markers, though they may be okay since the paper is good quality. Enjoy!
