Cowboy Bebop: The Movie - Knockin' on Heaven's Door [Blu-ray]

The Region B Blu-Ray I received has played in my Sony 4k player, PS4, Xbox One, and even my PS3 (all of them Region A only), so I can confirm that this disc *will* play in US players. Excellent news for those of us who don't want to be reamed for a copy of the out of print domestic release.

As a huge Bebop fan, I wasn’t disappointed with this special edition steelbook dvd. I have always loved this movie, let alone the series, regardless!Straight to the point, what I adored about this special copy is the special features that I never had on my original standard copy I have! Love the behind the scenes extras, the special 20th anniversary message from the original voice actors/actresses, the explanations of how the Cowboy Bebop franchise and characters came to be, everything! Frankly, that’s not all on this disk that I loved! Those are just the highlights of what you’d find on this disk!Anyways! My point is, as mentioned in my headline, it’s so worth spending your money and time on to add to your anime collection! You’re missing out on some amazing Bebop trivia stuff if you don’t have this yet!

This isn't a terrible movie and if you're a Cowboy Bebop fan I'd say go for it, but don't expect it to be as good as the series. I think the biggest fault with this movie is that it focuses on the wrong things. It take what made the series great and tries to use it again, except by this point that just isn't going to work. Part of the series' charm was the mystery surrounding the characters' backstories and choosing what parts to reveal and what to leave up to the viewer. Heck, the ending is essentially that.The movie, however, does that to an extreme degree. The main villain (it's been a minute so I don't remember his name) is interesting. He has an intriguing motive and personality, though you never fully understand why he's doing it. You don't even really learn much of where he came from. Even the villains of the week from the series got a history. This guy? Not so much. They gave him this interesting characterization and its execution just kind of falls flat for me. He's a bit like Vicious, but it just doesn't work.The Bebop crew isn't the most well-done either. The way they act in the movie and the way they act in the series just doesn't correspond well, and some of their actions don't really make sense. Spike in particular seems a bit out of character. If the movie was more interesting, this wouldn't be a problem. It just gets so boring though. Things happen but there's not enough to really hold the whole thing together. There's long-winded conversations between characters that hardly push the plot and they aren't even all that memorable. It's not all bad though.The animation, fight scenes in particular, has improved. I think they're well done and showcase the action just fine. The final fight between Spike and the villain is one of the best I've seen, even compared to the series. I found that I enjoyed the music as well, though I still prefer the stuff from the series. That's just not enough to warrant a full five stars though. I'm probably being nice with four, but I really did enjoy watching it, however dull some of it was.

Bought it again just for the steelbook. I notice some things different compared to the previous release, it now comes with French dub, and French and Portuguese subtitles plus the English and Spanish that were present in the last release.Audio is now Dolby true HD 5.1 instead of PCM Stereo.Cover art is the same 3 characters but they made it simpler and I like that. Way better than previous one.Buy it even if you already own it, why not, you need the steelbook.

I really like cowboy bebop. Movie was decent, but it really is just an extremely long episode. Way too long. I was getting bored halfway through and it was a struggle to finish. And this is coming from someone who loves the show. If you are thinking about buying this, ask yourself if you really care to spend the money to see it. I would pay maybe $1 to $3 to watch this movie. Which means it is rental quality. I regret purchasing. Honestly, you aren't missing anything by not watching this. Just stick to the TV show and you'll be happy. There are way better movies to spend your money on.

**No Spoilers**If you have not seen the series, stop and do that now.This movie places it in the time line some were near the middle of the series even though it is not said were. It gives you a little bit more Cowboy Bebop should you be left wanting more after watching the series, as most of us were. This follows the same style the series did but with improved visuals.If you liked the series, grab this, you will not be disappointed.

To get the full experience you really need to be familiar with the Cowboy Bebop canon and have watched the Anime series (26 episodes), the film slots into the timeline around episode 22 - 23, that being said, it does not distract from the enjoyment of the movie overall as it stands alone on its own merits and can be watched without prior knowledge of the cowboy bebop universe, highly recommended.

Was supposed to be an English dubbed version but only okayed in a Japanese. Either a faulty disk or a pirate version. Really disappointing, as I bought through Amazon to avoid fake merchandise. No insert inside jewel case either. This is often indicative of a rip off version.

This is going to be a review of the case and extra content because I assume that, if you are thinking about buying this show, you've already see it and have decided you liked it enough to purchase the physical copy.The case is nothing special. Holds the disc and has nice artwork, can't ask for much else.There are a lot of extras on the disc. Details that go into each character as well different objects (e.g. the different space ships).This is the best the series has ever looked and is a must buy if the like the show.

I thoroughly recommend this movie for any Bebop fans out there. It's an excellent adaptation of the show, it really feels like one big episode. I would recommend that you watch the show first though, it will introduce you to the characters and teach you about them, which this movie doesn't really do. I consider it to be the cherry on top of the Bebop franchise, although it is a great movie, it's best enjoyed as a treat after you finish the main series.I was worried before watching it that it was going to spoil me about the ending of the series (so I finished watching the series first) however it take place between episodes 22-23 so if that concerns you have no worries! It's in glorious 16:9, which I really appreciated. The VA is great as to be expected, and there's multiple nods to running gags that appear throughout the show. I know this is really nit-picky but one thing that I would've preferred would be that they had beef and bell peppers rather that instant noodles, but alas they chose to leave that little bit out. Not to worry though because it's a fantastic action movie which really keeps you at the edge of your seat with two great femme fatales and plenty of comedy sprinkled throughout! :)

Before I begin let me just say anime I can take or leave... however Cowboy Bebop is so addictive as movie and as series. If you have note see either, I truly recommend that you do...Great characters, great story telling, great score and of course great animation. All these elements will have you revisiting again and again.The service was excellent, two times previously I ordered this, waited two weeks and still no show. Extremely frustrating, but then thanks to musicmagpie not only the condition was fab, but I received it extremely early. Thank you so much music magpie!!!
