Excellent product that is well made
Despite this being fairly expensive and taking a while to arrive it is a brilliant product. I now have stopped the pigeons/ magpies from feeding at my feeding station and encouraged mainly smaller garden birds.I have a separate area for the other birds.

Great bird feeder
Great bird feeder well made. The starlings was pinching all the food & the little birds wasn't getting any. With this feeder the little birds get there food & the starlings can only get a little from the sides.

Big!
Larger than you might imagine, all the better for keeping out unwanted visitors! Well made, very solid and so it should be at the price. Hopefully it will last many years to justify the outlay!

Excellent does prevent squirrels from eating the suet
No issues with the product . Arrived promptly and easy to assemble . Large birds can still feed from it as their beak can reach the slabs. Small bird such as blue tits easily fit between the barsVery easy to clean , good value for the money . Highly recommend it!

Excellent for small birds
This bird feeder is perfect for small birds. Squirrels and larger birds can not rob all the food from this excellent feeder. Lots of small birds disappeared from my garden due to starlings, larger birds and squirrels eating all the food. Now I have so many breeds back since I bought this. It is well designed and looks great in the garden. Very solid and easy to add suet blocks to it. It's heavy duty and will last for years unlike the more flimsy suet block feeders out there. I strongly recommend this for small bird lovers. It would be good to see this made in different colours. I like pastels.

It broke when opened
I was so looking forward to using this. It was so much bigger than I expected. So very very disappointed that the screw mechanism holding the lid snapped off when I tried to remove lid. Not brute force. I’m a 67 year old woman!! Gutted that this came all the way from US to be sent back again.

Not as expensive as you might think...
The media could not be loaded. After reading all 40+ reviews I decided to give this a try, with the main reason being to foil the starlings and their insatiable appetite. I’d previously restricted the pigeons, magpies and crows with the square suet-block cage, but it was no match for the starlings, who between them would devour a whole suet block daily. Something had to give…It arrived a whole week early so well done Amazon for that, but the courier just left it on the door step, in full view and then walked away without even ringing the bell; a naughty habit that appears to be on the rise. I should add that it was an independent courier. In addition, although packed in an over-sized box and covered in thin bubble wrap, with minimal paper packing, it was all so flimsy and could have easily have been damaged in transit… thankfully it wasn’t.A very robust and well-made cage, which is easily accessed, via the lid, after taking off the screwed hanger. Two suet blocks comfortably fit and then just screw it back together again, however, as one reviewer noted, a heavy hand could easily damage the screw thread if not careful. I took note of this and was careful (good advice, thank you)Within 30 minutes of hanging it the garden, it was infested with starlings, however; as another reviewer noted, they can only attack the sides and cannot reach the centre. Nevertheless, what they can reach usually eats up approximately half of a block, both sides, but the centres remains out of reach.By trial and error, I've now cut a block into quarters and wedged two of them into the centre to avoid sliding when the starlings feel their luck might change and amusingly attack. Their only hope is the bits that might fall on the ground. I've also noted that the smaller birds prefer to stand on the floor of the cage and weren't taking any of the top half of a suet block... hence the change to quarters to avoid waste.£40+ may be a tad expensive, but the postage is free to the UK and is clearly stated. The suet-block savings should eventually pay for itself anyway. Now I sit and wait to see if any other tiny birds feel safe enough to try it out… watch this space.

Finally I found a squirrel proof suet bird feeder
After trying several options and wasting lot of suet cakes, I finally found this on Amazon. It really and truly works. I hang it on a shepherd’s hook. It keeps squirrels, except real small chipmunks getting inside the cage and steal the food. The build quality is excellent and easy to open the top to add fresh food. It is fairly attractive looking. Highly recommended.

This product really works
I have a very small backyard with a walkway between two trees. It's the only place I can put my feeder so I don't have that "magic" seven foot radius around my feeder to stop the squirrels from climbing up the stand or jumping down from the trees to get to the feeder. I've tried everything to deter them but nothing worked. This product is awesome! The squirrels can't touch the suet. The nuthatches figured out how to get to the suet right away and the downy woodpecker took a few minutes to figure it out but once they get in to the inner cage they don't have to figure it out again. I can stop checking my feeder for raiding squirrels now!!

Really works!
There are lots of products that claim they are squirrel proof and fail miserably. The urban rats are really good at defeating almost any feeder or deflector. This one works!

Solid after 2 years. Squirrel proof. My best feeder. Good-looking, highly recommend.
My best feeder. Squirrels cannot access this feeder. Attractive, keeps cake dry in rainy Pacific Northwest, allows smaller birds like bushtits, chickadees, nuthatches — and Northern Flickers and Downy Woodpeckers can use it in a pinch.I’ve not had sparrows try it probably because I have a tube feeder out as well, so no birds getting caught in mine. I also have a solid squirrel proof (baffled) fly-through feeder for the jays and crows (as well as smaller birds) and a hanging woodpecker feeder on the fence. I put cayenne flavored cakes in that one so squirrels won’t even touch it, once they learn hehe. I also put dried corncobs in a large cheap green wire hook cake feeder hanging from a dwarf maple near that back fence. The squirrels and jays enjoy that and it is fun to make them work for the high-calorie treat. Squirrels like to hang from the tree with back legs and use their arms to work the corn. So funny. Or they try to balance on it and struggle not to fall off as it swings — they don’t get too fat with too much corn like that.I did get a platform squirrel feeder and put it on the back fence to give them an easier go, but I find that they gorge on that, emptying in one day (probably also the “ground squirrels” get to it at night). So I only partially fill it with “critter crunch” on special occasions like holidays and during ice or snow. Don’t want them to become too dependent.Your best strategy is divide and conquer! Keep critter food, big bird food, and small bird food far apart. Keep fruit, corn and nuts away from the house. No fruit vines like kiwi on the house — could attract rats and squirrels to your home.Again, this is a great cake feeder! I’ve been using it for two years. Will buy another if/when this one becomes too ugly. The copper color fades and gets a bit dusty but it still looks better than most feeders.Come to think of it, it is also great protection from hawks and cats. They do stalk my yard because the birds love their treats! Small birds can safely feed inside this feeder.Hope all this helps! Learned after a few years of trial and error. Now, to find a safe solution for robins that won’t get water logged, or pilfered by rats, squirrels, crows and jays! Robins are shy and ground feeders. They like to feed near bird baths and to have the safety of bushes and trees close. If you have cats roaming in the yard they probably won’t come around. We have a neighbor black cat who loves to hang out in my yard like a jungle panther — stalk, pounce, snatch and scamper faster than you can blink an eye. So funny to see his head slowly poke up from a bush like Inspector Clouseau. So sad to sometimes hear the other birds crying desperately when he makes his mark. I guess everyone has to eat. I gave the cat owner reflective breakaway collars ($6 for 6 on Amazon!) and they seem to help if he has one on...Well hope you enjoyed the report from the flower jungle and adjacent small wood...
