Every time a new child comes to my expanded 'family', my wife and I seek out a collection of books to put in their library to be read to the young one whenever age appropriate. It is a double reminder - both about the importance to expose children to a wide variety of 'literature' and excite his 'little grey cells', and also to encourage the parents to include reading to their impressionable youngsters as a critical point of the babe's development. This collection will not be reading material immediately, but J.R.R.Tolkien and C.S.Lewis usually occur to the parents if they know them - this set was a favorite of my children. Remember parents! You're offspring don't need to understand every word or image or intent in each book/mag/comic/etc. you read...they grow just hearing you read to them! They will grow into the books you have in their library and beyond if you make reading a habit. Books came in a lovely box and will look great sitting on baby's bookshelf and catching their eye to stir their imagination.

I hadn't read these since grade school and was very happy to see them here in this beautiful boxed set with gorgeously illustrated covers. The only inner illustrations are b&w maps dealing with the particular area each book delves in. As a grown-up, I treasure them even more, especially as they are inspired by the Welsh myths I've always loved (my name happens to be Welsh). Highly recommended if you're looking for some classic Fantasy that doesn't get the attention Tolkien and Rowling have always gotten, especially this particular edition. Worth every penny I paid.

These books have been a favorite of our family for decades now. A fun story with good underlying principles. This edition is nice and easy to read.

What's to say. It does the job as advertised

My family has enjoyed these books as an evening read-aloud before bed. Girgi draws laughter without fail. Plus, the wisdom that is tucked snuggly into the dialogue makes for great discussions and leads to conversation about character development.

I loved this series when I was a kid and now I’m reading it to my boys (8 and 5 yo). They seem to love it too.Shipment from this vendor was swift. I had ordered it from another vendor and it did not reach me.

I read these books as a kid, and now my kiddo and I are reading them together. He loves them, too. Fantasy, adventure, characters who grow and mature... I love it.
