Mandatory purchase for any Damian Wayne fan.
Damian Wayne fan here. Big believer of voting with my wallet, and anything official with Damian's intended profile (especially in tribute/officially from the creators, Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert) I feel obligated to support it financially. I'm also more into the mature adult/testosterone fuelled side of intellectual properties and this does provide it.The character has proven more than ever as THE candidate for the Bat Mantle with the most complex, yet most interesting, lore out of the entire Bat family in my most honest opinion. I just love his aspirational and empathetic approach of "anger is more useful than despair" attitude in getting things done. The "Scarface/Vegeta/Kratos/Guts (from Berserk)" of the Batwards, I believe. (*Edit: I can't believe I didn't include Patrick Bateman from American Psycho in that analogy, too (especially when Damian starts killing, knowing that it's a conflicting attribute of his personal profile when faced in taking on the Mantle: the very reason why he was created in the first place, to replace the very man the al Ghuls wanted for themselves –there's definitely plenty of metaphorical fodder in these kinds of complex characters and their parallels upon analyzing their common traits. They provide a fascinating study for readers and I can't enjoy that enough)). Nevertheless, with the Grant Morrison issues also included in the Deluxe Edition, Damian matures and becomes the stoic, grounded, observant and realist Batman we all know and love/entertain the idea of (e.g. The "Raven(Teen Titans)/Near(from Death Note)/Levi Ackerman" (from Attack on Titan), I'd like to compare to from other intellectual properties).Damian's wavering ethics has been a cemented staple to the character's profile. His frustration of getting little release regarding how he endures/copes with his suffering regarding his high-expectations existence from two factions is truly represented in this graphic novel. It is that kind of plot fodder that makes a reader like me anxious to see and hypothesize where the character may lead the world of Batman into. It's all represented here in this graphic novel and I would love to see more of it. (Whether Damian breaks the Code or not, that's what makes it interesting.)Very proud of my purchase! I hope it makes a difference. Excellent job, Kubert and Morrison!

Great art, terrible story.
I rarely write reviews, but I was compelled to share my utter disappointment with this story. I love Andy Kubert's artwork--and it is beautiful here as well--but he was definitely not the person to write the story of Damian's assumption of the Batman mantle. He completely misses the mark on Damian's voice and character. He portrays Damian as more of a childish brat as a young adult than Morrison did with him as a 10-year old. Damon's vocabulary also seems to have deteriorated drastically in the intervening time as well.I was looking very forward to this collected edition of this miniseries, and very much hoping that Kubert could deliver a story that rang true to the character of Damian as he transitions from the the person he is as Bruce and Dick's sidekick and student to the fully realized adult Batman that we see in Batman #666 and 700. Instead we get a wonderfully illustrated dud of a story. I'm giving this 2 stars only because of the art. My advice: skip this.

Great potential, Poor execution.
This was a very strange read for me. As a fan of the Damian character I was intrigued by an alternate future tale where he survives and eventually takes up the mantle of being the Batman. What we are given in the edition is a strange and disjointed story that ultimately goes no where and accomplishes nothing. As a collected four part series I was expecting a tightly told tale about the death of Batman and Damian stepping into his shoes, that was not the case. The first part of the story involve Batman's death and Damian's ascendance, but it sets up ideas and characters that are completely dropped and forgotten. Nothing is capitalized upon. The last part of the book contains two random stories about Damian as Batman that are average at best. Overall I felt like this was a book that had a great deal of potential that was never fully realized.

It was ok.
The book was ok. Didn't know that it would still have the public library stickers still on it, and it came late. That I could have dealt with. But there were a couple pages riped out and stuck back in. Kinda disappointed

God
Eu estou gostando do Damian como Robin, ele sabe que é filho do Batman e que devido a sua formação com a liga dos assassinos, ele não mede esforços e enfrenta o perigo sem pensar

This book is a present for my son who is a great fan of graphic novels. It came in time for Christmas, which was all important, looks great, I haven't opened it, its in a see through rapper, but I'm sure it will be enjoyed by my lad. Will use this company again.
