Well written books and the lines are great. But the quality is quite bad. But the book is good

I am a self confessed Pablo Neruda Worshiper. So, no complains about the content of the book. You'll have both spanish and english versions of the poems. Only complaint about Random House is the quality of pages. Could've been better and the price too is a bit on the higher side but well worth it.

With so much hype about Neruda, I guess my expectations were high. It is tad bit higher than mediocre. To his credit, it is a translated work and much of the origin essence might have vanished during the translation.The Amazon description should mention that it has the original and the English version side by side. Because the number of pages im the description gives an impression of having more poems than what is.

The paper quality is poor, otherwise the collection of poems is really nice. Perfect for those who are studying Spanish since it has translation in bo th of the languages.

This is a bilingual edition with both the Spanish originals and the English translations. Page quality is decent, at par with Vintage Classics. I love this book for the meticulous selection of poems. It is not a very comorehensive compendium, but a vert good one still.

This is a bilingual edition despite Amazon not making that clear - I wanted the edition with translations by Anthony Kerrigan that now seems out of print but has the best selection of Neruda's work in my view; after a week of searching it was pure luck that led me to realise this Vintage publication did indeed contain the Spanish. The translations appear on the facing page (Spanish on the left, English on the right) in the same typeface and with the same line length so if you are reading both, it is very clear and comfortable. Reading Neruda is enticing in either language, his use of language and metaphor to evoke the world around us and delve deeper - I especially enjoy his descriptions of nature, birds, trees, the night sky. Highly recommended with a good range of poems.

I am new to the poetry of Neruda and am delighted to have found him. The poems are beautiful and the translations are excellent. But the lack of an index detracts from the usefulness of the book.I will certainly be buying more of his work.

A fantastic selection of Neruda in an elegant volume, with both Spanish and English version of his poems. Must have.
