So good it sliced through my fingernail
I bought this to replace a Xigmatek 170mm side intake fan. The Xigma seemed to just look pretty and wasn't very functional; my mobo would regularly exceed 55C playing something as simple as Borderlands 2. Having had it just a day, I haven't had a chance to really punish it yet. After a 1 hour gaming session, though, mobo was reading 34C. Needless to say it pushes lots of air and does it very quietly. In fact, I can only barely make out "wind" noise on its high setting. As others have mentioned, it is a pretty hefty fan, but I was able to mount it on the *outside* of my style case with out too many problems. That said, and as the title of this review stated, in this configuration there is no guard on the outside. It was powerful enough to cut right through my fingernail on its low setting. A custom guard is my next project :)The box contains just the fan. No adapters, no screws. Which was just fine for my needs. But keep this in mind if you're installing a new fan and need fan screws. It also has a sleeved power 3-pin power cable and a separately sleeved speed switch.Overall great fan. I'll update this review as I get some additional seat time with it.

Came in on time and without any issues.
This fan does fit my SilverStone Fortress FT102 case. When I ordered it I was not sure it would fit judging from the pictures and the descriptions. It is better than the original since it does have a protective cover built in already. The fan moves air well and it is very quiet.I had to replace one of the original fans because I broke one of the fan paddles (don't ask)... :OThe price was excellent, there were other listings pricing the fans for much more....In case you are wondering, I do love the design of this case, I've had it for about three years now... The direction that the motherboard is positioned (180 degrees), gets the heat out of the MB quickly...Bottom line, this fan is an updated model to the original fans that came with my Silverstone Fortress FT102 case.

Good fan; Needs mounting screws for speed switch.
This fan is huge and has a separate speed switch with three rpm levels from 700-7200. I bought this for my SilverStone SG-08Lite build. I like the product but there is NO mounting screws for the speed switch to mount in it's designated location on the case. The case came with the type of screws needed but only supplied four - which were used to mount he slim BD drive. Unfortunately, I had to remove one of the screws from the BD drive to mount the switch. Hopefully the will not be much vibration in the drive. This is the only reason I gave it 3 stars. Those tiny screws are not very easy to find without buying in bulk, and then there are not very many uses for them, at least in my own experience.

Huge Fans
While building my last computer I purchased the Silverstone Fortress FT02 from newegg. One of the fans was broken upon arrival while the second of three worked for the past couple of months and has now died. I have replaced both fans with this model from amazon as it is exactly the same one as what came in my case originally. They have both arrived in perfect working order. My only proble is that I was dumb and threw away the riser part that situates the fan above the filter in my case for the first failed fan. I have been unable to find where I can purchase a replacement since these fans don't include that riser. If anyone knows where I can purchase a riser please comment on my review. These fans are great and keep my sli Nvidia 570 GTX's very cool.

Version 2.0 of the AP181
I received a version 2.0 AP181 even though Amazon still has it labeled as the original AP181 700/1200 rpm fan. The new version of the AP181 fan that I received had black rubber like braided cables and a 3 speed switch with 600/900/1200 RPMs. Other than that, the version 2.0 is identical to the 1.0 which is a good thing. At 600 rpm, the fan is silent and moves a decent amount of air. The sweet spot is 900 rpm which moves a good amount of air without being noticeable. At 1200 rpm the fan can be audible over my 1050 rpm Gentle Typhoons which are virtually silent.4 of these fans were mounted on a 1080 external radiator in pull, exhausting out the window.

Excellent airflow, quiet operation.
These fans are perfect in my FT-02 case, for which they were designed. They produce very low noise and have contributed to a 3c drop in CPU/GPU operating temps (over the stock fans). The only downsides are the cost (30+ for a fan is certainly a premium), and they seem to fail after a couple years of use. Probably something to do with the bearings. If you don't mind the price and stay on top of any strange noises, these fans are great. I would certainly recommend them to any user with an appropriate Silverstone case.

High quality.
These are stock replacement for Silverstone case, i have falcon-nw computer that's 6yrs old and fan finally started to make noise. That's pretty solid life span for fan that sees 6+hrs of use each day. The fan is dead silent on lowest setting and still moves good air.Finding 180mm fans isnt easy this is about only one that really is quiet and works well.I'll send it for another 6ys.

lots of air
good build quality, air is directional, quiet. Only issue, is why they are not being built with PWM (4 pin)? It is still a 3 pin with a switch for 3 different fan speeds. Sure, keep it compatible with legacy hardware, but at least offer one with PWM. With some motherboards the on board fan controller will need to be set to turbo in the bios in order to provide enough current to push these things.

I'm a fan, this is also a fan
Used to replace a case fan in my FT02. The original went 4 years of 10+ hour days, pretty good. This fan comes with no directions, and no screws, so don't lose your original screws. It's also the 2.0 version of the fan, the 3 speed is a lot nicer than the 2 speed switch. There are no markings to distinguish which switch position is which. Holding the switch in your hand, make sure the wires are closest to you instead of on the far side of the switch. Now the left position is slow, right is fast.

DOES NOT FIT TJ08-E CASE
Overall the build quality of the fan resembles that of the original AP181 that came with my TJ08-E, however the switch dimensions are not the same and as a result, I could not replace the original fan with the new one. This is despite Silverstone assuring me that the new 3-speed switch fan would fit.
