As an enthusiastic home cook constantly in pursuit of kitchen tools that simplify cooking processes, I recently had the pleasure of using the Mesh Spider, a nifty kitchen gadget that has revolutionized the way I cook noodles. This ingenious tool makes the noodle-cooking experience incredibly efficient and hassle-free. Effortless Noodle Retrieval: The Mesh Spider proves to be an essential companion when it comes to cooking noodles. Its design, featuring a fine mesh basket attached to a long handle, allows you to effortlessly retrieve noodles from boiling water. This eliminates the need for draining and straining, saving both time and effort in the kitchen. Precise Control and Consistency: One of the standout features of the Mesh Spider is the precise control it offers. By simply scooping the noodles from the boiling water, you can control the cooking time with exceptional accuracy. This ensures that your noodles are cooked to perfection—never too mushy or too al dente. The result is a consistent texture and taste that elevates your noodle-based dishes. Minimized Cleanup: Using the Mesh Spider significantly reduces the number of dishes to clean up after cooking. Since you're not using a separate colander or strainer, you're left with only the Mesh Spider to wash. This means less time spent on cleanup and more time enjoying your delicious meal. Versatility in the Kitchen: The Mesh Spider's utility extends beyond noodle cooking. It's a versatile tool that comes in handy for other culinary tasks as well. From blanching vegetables to retrieving dumplings and more delicate items from hot liquids, this tool proves its worth in various cooking scenarios. Sturdy Construction and Durability: Constructed from high-quality materials, the Mesh Spider is built to withstand the rigors of the kitchen. The long handle remains cool to the touch, ensuring safe handling even when dealing with boiling water. Its sturdy build inspires confidence that it will continue to serve you well for countless cooking adventures. Conclusion: The Mesh Spider is a game-changer in the world of noodle cooking, offering unmatched convenience and precision. Its effortless noodle retrieval, precise cooking control, and minimized cleanup make it an indispensable tool for any home cook. Whether you're whipping up a quick weeknight dinner or preparing a gourmet meal, the Mesh Spider streamlines the cooking process and guarantees consistent results. Well built and sturdy
I like this spider, it's well-built and sturdy, great for using for deep-frying in a wok, to removing noodles, or ravioli or tortellini from boiling water. It's versatile.

Great for fries
Works great when I do my fries. The oil drips off the wire easily. The shape makes it easy to get all those fries out of the pan. Wood handle works great to keep you from a hot handle. Should last a long time.

Smaller but very nice spider
I make stir fry quite often and all I had to take up the food was a slotted spoon which often nab just a couple of vegetables at a time. Same goes for my fries and apple fritters. Enough was enough so I scouted out the spider strainers. I chose Helen Chen's smaller 5 1/2" spider because I only cook for two and my cookware isn't as spacious as a home that cooks for more individuals. This smaller spider is absolutely perfect as it can get in the pots and stir fry pans I use with the greatest of ease and leaves the cooked product well drained. I love the bamboo handle as it never gets hot and is easy to clean. Now talking about clean, although the instructions say this product can be placed in the dishwasher, and I'm sure it can be, I do wash it by hand. Just swish around in hot soapy dishwater and bingo! it's clean and sparkly. It can be air dried but I just pat it gently with a dishtowel. I have no problem with it snagging my washing sponges or dishtowels because I'm very gentle in my use of it. It looks as if it will last through many meals and I'm very happy with the product.

Top-Value, Works Great!
I have owned this for some time and used it a bit.. I don't do a LOT of frying. This item is just a fine item. America's Test Kitchen (ATK) ran a test of "dippers" and this one did not win top honors, instead going to a metal-handled one costing about triple what this one costs (and this ships free too over $25 orders) Their reason for rejecting this one was that the wood handle might "hold smells and oil". I have used bamboo-handled kitchen devices of various sorts and have never had that kind of problem.. admittedly I never wash it in a dish washer either, and that may break down the natural structure of the wood.. I don't know. This was not mentioined by ATK. This spider is wonderful for dipping out of hot liquids.. *It dips cleanly, leaving the liquid in the container.. this can really be annoying for frying because the oil ends up on your food or being wasted. *It picks up a nice load of "stuff" too.. about the right size. *I love the angled handle that allows you to "get into" the pots easily. *The handle stays cool in all cases. *In spite of it's size it doesn't take up a lot of drawer space.. fits neatly around other utensils *It's cheap and durable If you need a tool like this, I recommend it.

Does what you'd expect it to, competently and at a very good price.
Great little product. I've been using it as my go-to tool for deep frying, but also for fishing clam shells out of fish stews, stirring dumplings, you name it: if you can think of a kitchen task that requires a slotted spoon, this will work, and often work better. Despite its low price it seems solidly made, and certainly has given no sign of quitting after three months of use. I'd be surprised if I don't get years of use from it. (UPDATE). Darn it, it DIDN'T give me years of use, because I lost it while ice fishing up in Maine. It was as useful skimming ice from fishing holes as scooping calamari from hot oil, so I took it along with me on an expedition up north, and lost/forgot it in a falling snow. I'm now reordering two of these, and will reserve one exclusively for kitchen use.

This spyder strainer is perfect and very reasonably priced. Have used it a few times and works great to remove fried dumplings while allowing the oil to drip through. Economical but sturdy. Happy so far with my purchase.
