Viva Frida: (Caldecott Honor Book) Hardcover – Picture Book, September 2, 2014

These pictures are awesome! The Spanish is easy for beginners. It is more of a long poem, but gives you a quick glimpse into the whimsical world of Frida. There is more narrative at the end if your point is to teach a young person about her history in more detail.

The illustrations are amazing. I bought this for my book collection.

I used this for 2nd grade ELD classes for reading fluency, introduction into poetry and cultural relevance. It was a hit even with the boys. The art work introduces Frida's style wonderfully. This is a beautiful book that I will use year after year.

A wonderful multicultural bilingual book that has won many awards for its art and content. A short biography of Frida Kahlo easy read for most lower elementary students. One of the only books I can find for classroom use that has text in both English and Spanish, and culturally authentic.

If you are looking for more books for your Spanglish, ESL, students, or to normalize diversity, you are on to the correct author, Yuyi Morales, she is WONDERFUL. This is not her best book. Buy her book Dreamers before this book if you have to choose on a limited budget. This book is BEAUTIFUL, but it is not the best book on Frida Khalo, nor is it the best book by Yuyi Morales. It is a WONDERFUL book, I am only writing this review for those on limited budgets looking to fill their collections with the very best, diverse, recent books.

My Spanish students loved the book and they love Yuyi Morales! If you have not read her books, do so now. The books are beautiful and the art is amazing. I wish I could buy the Frida doll!

Very great condition! This is a very cute book! Not an extensive content but, still fun! It was well packed and in good condition!

A beautifully realized child's book introducing Freida Kahlo. Done in several mediums the artwork is dynamic and obviously inspired by Kahlo's work. Love it.
