DISAPPOINTED 😞
I was really looking forward to what this book had to say. My husband is pre-diabetic, and I have a few pounds I'd love to lose. Just reading the beginning of the book where they tell you all the tools and equipment your kitchen should have to make the recipes in the book was an eye opener. If anyone is living in a tiny apartment with a sorely lacking, miniscule kitchen, there is not enough space for all that you "should" have. And going through the recipes...there is a great deal that picky eaters will not touch. And, at least where I live, the ingredients are far from budget-friendly. I'll stick with the diabetic cookbooks I recently got.

Excellent tasting food.. Advice that really works
I've had this book for a long time now and I keep coming back to it when I want to lower my sugars. Even if I didn't need to lower my sugars, the recipes are extremely delicious. Here's what seems to work for me.. I avoid processed foods and any 'bad' carbs that turn to sugar. I also limit my alcohol and I don't eat sweets. I usually make a couple dishes and keep them in the fridge so I have food ready to go and I don't have to think about it. Sometimes I combine this with intermittent fasting and I only eat from 11am to 7pm. I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I get off track sometimes.. but this is a good book that I highly recommend.

THE book that has saved my life
This is a true story. When I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, the doctor sent me to a nutritionist. She started me on the ADA "standard" diabetic diet. That diet (and perhaps the medication I was also put on) made it get worse and worse and worse. I gained 6 pounds and felt like crap. One day while watching KPBS TV, I saw Dr. Hyman talking about this book. I sent for it, read it and started the program right away. I lost 20 pounds, stopped taking both medications for diabetes and high blood pressure. The next thing I knew, my A1c test showed that my diabetes is in remission. These is something very healing about this low-carb program, and personally, I think that the American Diabetes Association needs to rethink the diet that they preach. It doesn't work but this book/program does work because I am living proof that is does. P.S. this also helps arthritis, asthma and many other inflammatory diseases in this old body... Just a miracle, thanks Dr. Hyman.

That book was such a great book! It really changed our health
Enjoying trying the recipes in this book. We bought this book after going through the eating plans in Dr. Hyman's book "Eat Fat Get Thin". That book was such a great book! It really changed our health, blood sugar and weight for the better. Dr. Hyman recommend this cookbook for more recipes to go along with the 3rd stage of the eating plan in "Eat Fat Get Thin." ...by the way, some of my friends think EFGT is like Atkins diet. Not True! It is not like that at all. It's a well balanced plan including meat, veggies and fruits. Thank you Dr. Hyman! So appreciate these books.

Healthy eating that tastes good and lots of it.
Excellent Strategy for healthy eating! After 6 weeks I've lost 15lbs+ and have a lot more energy through out the day. This is an eating plan and lifestyle that I can stick with. I've actually saved $$ by doing this. I spend roughly $130 a week at the grocery store for 2 people and and am never hungry because you need to eat everything you got as it will go bad.My goto Meal is Sauteed Veggies in EVOO. I would have eaten more veggies a long time ago if they were made this way. My most hated veggies (Brussel Sprouts and spinach) are now my 2 favorite ones. Here is what I do,The base I start with for almost everything is, Heat EVOO in a pan, Add in red Chili Flakes, Garlic and sliced onion... Saute this around for a few minutes to let oil absorb the flavor and from there you can really create anything.Base: (EVOO, Garlic, Onions, a pinch or two of Red Chili Flakes)Base + Spinach = Super Yummy, The spinach cooks and shrinks. Add Salt and pepper (Afterwards) to taste.Base + Mixed Veggies (Brussel Sprouts, Asparagus, Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, Broccoli) Salt + pepper to taste. To take it up a notch further you can try adding some white wine while the veggies are cooking for additional flavor. Also wait towards the end before adding any salt and pepper. Also it is fun to experiment with different Types of Salts, Spices and Wine combinations.Salt: (Johnny's, Himalayan Sea salt, Hawaiian Alaea salt, Plain Sea salt etc...)You can take the above meal and turn it into an Asian stir fry by simply adding Hosin Sauce or a bit of low sodium Soy to it.I've been doing about 70% veggies and 30% protein (Chicken, Beans, tofu, shrimp, fish...)Verdict: Cheaper, Healthier, and by far way more tastier than eating out... or eating something out of a package.

This is a MUST HAVE book for a type 2 Diabetic!!! It works!!
My husband's blood-sugar readings were slowly 'going up', even with medication. A year ago I tried a few recipes from other books & sources but nothing seemed to really help and it was hard to keep him satisfied with so few recipes to choose from. We starting eating 100% from the recipes in this book on Dec. 26, 2013 and we both have lost weight (me 10, him 20), feel better and most of all his blood-sugar is under control and lower than ever! We expect that he can start to reduce his Metaformin dosage very soon (Yay!! we hate that he's on drugs!!) and his Dr. is VERY impressed with his results so far! I'm not a diabetic, but by default I am eating what I cook for him so I am also reaping the benefits!! After 4 months of cooking completely from this book, we are not bored at all and still have many recipes to try out. The recipes are more of a Mediterranean-type of cooking (which I was not used to preparing at home, only when eating out) and I love that we have learned a more healthy way of eating by eliminating gluten & all kinds of sugar! This is a 'for life' way of eating and I know we will continue. I have shared many recipes with family & friends and more than one has bought the book & is on their way to feeling better!! BUY THE BOOK!! You won't be disappointed!

Brilliant! He talks sense and puts it in words ...
Brilliant! He talks sense and puts it in words that are easy to understand. You don't have to read the Blood Sugar Solution first to get the "how to" working but it helps if you know why.

Limited photos
Disappointed with lack of photos because I am a very visual person.

Confusing
We're told to eat smaller fish, then I see recipes using fish we are supposed to avoid. Basically, the description doesn't necessarily match the recipes. Also, the recipes are kind of "dry" without any tips or hints, almost as though they are untried.
