directions are weird but toy is lots of fun
This is a simple toy that can be lots of fun if you take a moment to figure out how it works. Another review complained that the toy broke upon first use and I can believe it. But used properly it can be loads of fun. The secret is not overwinding the propeller. Also, the propeller mechanism behaves a bit strangely when the toy is out of the water. Thatâ(tm)s because it's designed to work properly when submerged IN water. Have a bit of patience and figure it out before setting your five year old loose on it and everything will be fine. I wouldnâ(tm)t recommend the toy for children younger than 4 or 5.

Ok for strong parents with small hands to twist the sub's small/stiff crank.
The crank is too small and painful for my big hands to twist all the way and the resistance is too strong for a girl, nan or child to twist. Too much work for a few seconds per swim (we get about 30 seconds per dive). Looks just like the picture. The impeller is exposed to small hands but no accidents yet. It does dive and surface as described (given enough room in a big tub).Although, as of today 14/02/2016, the supplier made the length correction of 22cm mine measured 22L x 8.3H x 67W cm; not 24.2 x 9.8 x 7.2 cm stated in the Product Information (Technical Details). These measurements might be of the box; not the product.TIP: Instead of holding the sub and twisting the crank, try holding the crank and twisting the sub then hold underwater until all the trapped air bubbles come out before releasing.

Bad value for money
Rather disappointed with this product.Bought for my son but is very difficult for a child to windup and then does not consistently descend and rise? It’s rather hit and miss with the majority of the time working like a normal windup bath toy that you could get for a third of the price.Would not recommend.

Not suitable for a child to use
Great looking kids toy but is so hard to turn the really stiff winder its impossible for a child to use. You also need to hold it really tightly under your arm to keep it still as its wound. It uses up all the power to move at great speed that it only moves for around 6 seconds before coming to a sudden stop. Really badly designed toy. Don't bother

Great toy sub, as advertised. I’d buy one again.
Great toy submarine, good quality but has parts that can (will) be easily broken off by children. Yes I’d buy one again.

Really good little toy cheap and cheerful
Really good little toy cheap and cheerful. Bought for a holiday and kept 2 and 5 year old happy in the swimming pool. Quite small and light so packed away easily. Has quite a long ‘swim’ on it when fully wound so might not be so good in the bath, best for swimming pool use. Arrived really quickly. Good value for money.
