I rely on these antennas to improve my radios' performance. These 2 antennas are just my latest antenna purchases. Whenever I get a new ham mobile radio I attach one of these antennas. To further improve performance I attach a 19" wire tail to the outside of the antenna's base connector for a ground or counter poise, not on the center contact which is the antenna. You will notice a marked improvement in performance and reception. Your range is increased. These have female SMA connectors which fit the radio's male SMA antenna connector. This fits my purchase admirably!

They're a clone of the excellent NA-771. But unlike the many fakes of that antenna, these are well made. They're also better priced. If you have a radio that will take these (such as the many flavors of Baofeng), you should get some. You'll get much better range than any stock antenna. The only 2/70 handheld I don't have these on is the one I keep one of the little stubby antennas on so it fits in my pocket.

This antenna is similar to a product offered by TIDRadio, where both have identical and good RF performance. The only difference is marking and the exposed SMA connector length. Much like another review I had to trim the plastic on the antenna such that the SMA center pin is able to make electrical connection to a Baofeng handheld radio. Thus if you were happy with the TIDRadio antenna, you will be happy with this product. In fact rumor has it the OEM for the TIDRadio antenna is the manufacture of this antenna. Why there is a dimensional difference with respect to where they glued the housing over the matching coil? Likely a quality issue in manufacturing, thus why I knocked off one star. Otherwise a good value, where when I measured the VSWR on a vector network analyzer in both the 2 meters and 70 cm bands the match is <1.5:1 across each band. Notable is that anything less than 2:1 is considered acceptable, thus from a SWR perspective better than many other antennas I have tested and in fact there is nothing to complain about.

I have been using these for a couple of months now and they seem to be perfect. I’ve had no issues with SWR and seem to have improved range over the antennas that come with handheld radios. They are long so you will have to figure out how you’re going to manage that, but if you put your radio on a backpack, you can easily route the antenna in a way that it doesn’t flop around. There is a decent amount of flex in the antenna, but not nearly as much as a namebrand one. The only thing to watch out for is sharply bending the antenna near the base as it will remain bent permanently, it will still function though.
