B., Benioff, David: Books Review: Fantastic Book for GOT Fans, Concept Art Fans, Ren Faire Fan, Medieval Times Fans, etc.! - Let me start by saying, this book is huge! Measures (approx.) 9.75"x13", and is almost 2" thick. Weighs in just under 8lbs., and features 432 pages of beautiful printed imagery! Insight Editions is definitely the leader in the market when it comes to publishing film concept art books, and this book is no exception. Every page is filled with stunning imagery. Concept art, blueprints, renderings, detailed props design, and intricate set dressing designs fill the many pages of this book. Introduction text and image footnotes explain what the images are, but for the most part, the images are what do the most talking. They give a glimpse into the world behind Westeros, the world of the studios filled with designers and fabricators. The book covers the 8 seasons and, for the most part, covers all locations and incorporates design elements from each. For the cost (at this time under $40) the book is a steal! Review: Amazing for the Price - I was able to get his when it dipped down to 28$. At that price this is a STEAL. It is a huge book, probably 2 inches thick. It has tons of rendered and hand drawn art work in it. For a narrative it is not as cohesive or as fun to read as the "Art of Star Wars" or some of the other art of books that I have read. But the images are inspiring and plentiful. The benefit of the rest of the fan base quiting on GoTs is that books like this can be found at a great price! If the price is anything under 50$ I would say it is worth it for the hundreds of pages of art that are within. Even if you aren't a game of thrones fan this book is worth using as medieval inspiration or just great medieval style art.

Beautiful art
You will love this. I stumbled accross this an immediately bought hoping it would be as advertised. It is!!! If you know someone who is a GOT fan they will forever love you should you gift them this. It's stunning and high quality. I have collected a few collectable things over the years so trust me when I say I've been disappointed a few times and a bit of a critic but as you can tell this one's as promised and more

A fantastic book for your collection!
I love every single page of this brilliant (and quite heavy) book! As an artist myself this piece of art is a great inspiration and moodboard for fantasy illustrations and arts. Every location is very detailed (from season 1 to 8) and it's really interesting to see the developments of every scene which we saw afterwards in GOT tv show. The paper is thick, the pages are colorful and full of beautiful concept arts. Bravo!

Nicely put together and a very deluxe book
Overall I would definitely recommend this to anyone who either wants a lavish art book to gloss over or anyone who’s looking for inspiration for any fantasy themed endeavor. That said, my only complaint is that it only covers events and places in the show, not books. I understand this was created specifically to display the concept art for the show, but still, it would have been nice to see some of the less familiar places of Westeros. Definitely worth it if it’s $40 or less, IMHO

Beautiful book
I pre-ordered the book, and it arrived today. The book is large and heavy, with a dust cover that matches the actual cover. It has glossy thick pages, a sewn binding, and a ribbon bookmark. The book is broken into the different locations and each location has artwork, blueprints, and discussion. I love Game of Thrones, and got this for inspiration while i sketch and paint my own creations, and this book will definitely supply lots of inspiration. I would have liked to see the sketching / ideas that led to the final creations, but that's a minor wish on my part. I'm happy with the book and will be spending more time going over it in depth.

Wonderful concept art book!
This book is chockfull of art. What a massive heavy tome. I am a fan of environmental and architectural concept art and as such this book is a winner. I am an architect, I don't care much about character design, but I agree with other reviewers, if that is what you are looking for, then this book is a disappointment. But if you are looking for concept art for locations and architecture of GoT, this book is just marvelous and should be in your collection.

I wasn't sure exactly what this was going to be like as art department pretty much covers everything built on set but it is in fact concept art of all the major people and events from the tv series. Visually the book is stunning-the artists have perfectly captured the faces of all the main cast for later seasons when the stars have been cast, a few early ones with blank faces done before filming it seems. The double or full page art of the castles like the Eyrie with the stunning mountains and interior bird murals are gorgeous. Harrenhal was brooding and creepy, Dragonstone looked stunning, with the art showing the arrival of Dany and taking in the beach, castle, walkways and sea. It made me wish I was there and that I could draw like that! I could see myself living there as it is remote, secluded and beautiful! Niggles? A couple of minor ones. There are pages of black and white blueprints which really seem pointless with small writing beside them about constructing the set. There aren't too many of these pages but I don't find them that interesting to look at. There is not a lot of text in the book which allows for reading it easily in one night. However the people that write the actual text don't seem to have watched Game of Thrones as the information is often wrong. An example is the Three Eyed Raven telling Bran, Meera, Jojen and Hodor to flee because the Night King is coming to the cave-trouble is, Jojen dies before the group ever get inside the cave so how can he flee south with the others? Another weird one is Varys and Tyrion being in Volantis to negotiate the end of slavery and then getting on a ship to go back to Dany in Meereen. Um, it is Jorah who kidnaps Tyrion from Varys to take to Meereen where Tyrion meets Dany for the first time. I just find it lazy writing to not fact check this stuff before printing it and it is frustrating! The book is beautiful and I could look at the artwork many times so the book was certainly worth buying!
