Oil Pastel Set for Artists - 72 Vivid Colors in Wooden Box, Smooth and Blendable, Fade-Resistant, Perfect for Artists and Beginners

I know most people don't read 5 star reviews but I am hopeful that you will read mine. I read another great review and it turned me around to purchase these. They are very smooth, highly pigmented and have a wonderful color selection. I really do love having 7 greys to choose from but I would have easily given one of them up for an extra white. Instead I purchased 2 white Sennelier oil pastels so that I have extra. If you want to stick with Mungyos and can't find single colors here you can always find them at Jerrys Artarama, who is the art store selling these via Amazon. I purchased an expensive set of Sennelier oil pastels as well but like another reviewer said he uses both together. These would easily be great for my underpainting. but I will use these forever. Buy them. They are worth it. They are so affordable in a nice wood box, and are great pastels so how could you ask for more!!

I usually work with soft pastels, but decided to challenge myself and treat myself to this set of oil pastels. They are different, and of course the techniques for painting with them are different. After almost 2 months, I have completed some paintings, but I have to admit I am still learning about this medium. I believe they are really good quality, and they lay down on the paper like butter. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have a great start using a new medium. Experiment! Go For It!

Based on the Mungyo Gallery description I thought these were artists quality oil pastels. They are STUDENT grade oil pastels with low pigment. I have a set of 48 Mungyo Gallery oil pastels and they are artist quality, right up there very close to Sennelier. Very disappointed.

I read a ton of online reviews along with Amazon reviews and ordered this set based on the numerous good reviews and the price. Maybe if I had not already been using the Sennilier brand and couldn’t compare strike for stroke, I would have thought these were better. But I was was just trying to save money and praying these were a low cost alternative. Honestly folks, there is just no comparison. If you are buying for a student or just playing around, these are better than others I have used and comparable to Windsor and Newton but there is no comparison to the Sennelier brand of oil pastels. These are not soft and do not transfer as smoothly. Don’t get me wrong. I made some decent looking pieces with them but I won’t buy them again. Sennelier are definitely top of the line but are also so expensive. If you are a serious artist, save your money. If you are just having a good time, these will work.

I am very unsatisfied and actually mad at the product I got from this seller. One of the reason I bought this product is because it had wooden box which I expected to be protecting the pastels. But when I got the product it was all broken and did not do its job. I don’t understand how this product would cost more than $50. The price is a joke compared to the quality of the product you get. I would want some compensation for this.

This is a nice set of colors in an attractive, sturdy box. I tried using them on white Canson Mi-Teintes paper, and got a good result; but on rust-colored Mi-Teintes paper, not so much - the white wouldn't go white, the sky blue was too thin to cover the rust background color, and the greens and browns were too waxy and thin without enough pigment in them. My go-to oil pastels are Senneliers and while the Mungyos are supposed to be top grade student quality, they are still too light with too little covering power on colored papers or grounds. I tried to blend these pastels using odorless mineral spirits, and they just disintegrated - didn't blend at all. Not sure why. Just somewhat disappointing. A nice practice set but I wouldn't depend on them or use them for serious art work.

This particular set just so happens to be for my daughter. Let's just say if it wasn't for her assistance in knowing what to look for, I probably would have purchased melted crayons and thought it was correct lol. According to my wife and my daughter, these are not only going to work but last a good while. The quality of the set just seems like it is definitely worth it. Normally I'm looking for a better price but apparently it's one of those things that is simply not the best route. Highly recommend it! Well my kiddo does lol

These oil pastels are so much softer than others that I have used over the past years. They blend and rub easily and smoothly. I shall enjoy creating new paintings with these and love the variety of colors usually found with dry pastels.

This set contains a beautiful, vibrant collection of colours. Very good quality pastels for the price.
