I'm happy that it was big enough
Thought about 5 stars but since it was expensive I'd base the last star on its durability. We've had it a few months (for Mom). I put it in the main chair she sits in 8 or more hours a day. I'm happy that it was big enough. I previously bought a much less expensive "gel" cushion that has already squished down a good bit and will not regain its shape, so it would have to be replaced before long. I believe so far the Equagel cushion was a good investment. A honeycomb (or grid) design like this is important for anyone who sits a lot because it's designed to allow air circulation and eliminate pressure points that can cause terrible sores. It's a very heavy rubber-like material. I didn't realize that it would have a concave area to cradle the person's bottom, but the photo does show that curve if you look. It also has a nylon canvas cover.

Wish I had found this sooner!
I've had three back surgeries, three knee surgeries on my right knee (the last two were a partial knee replacement which broke free in two weeks, and then a full knee replacement that failed--I'm in constant pain), and I have arthritis and a pinched nerve in my left hip that makes my leg go numb. My bad back and arthritic hips keep me from being able to lay down in a bed, and I can only stand for a few minutes and only walk small distances because of my knee (which needs more surgery). As a result, I do a lot of sitting--and I'm overweight. I've been using an air cushion for the last few years to help control my pain while sitting in my recliner (which I have to sleep in due to my bad back and hips). It's been doing okay, until now--I just lost 80 pounds, and I thought I would be able to do away with my cushion altogether. Instead, I've lost a lot of my weight in my fanny (which was actually the smallest part of me), and now my coccyx bone is giving me trouble since I lost all that padding. I've been trying different cushions for years, all with little success except for my air cushion which did a decent job until now. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews, and finally decided to give the Equagel seat cushion a try. I've tried gel cushions before, only to find that they were way too hard for me and did little to alleviate my pain. This cushion is different than regular gels--the honeycomb design must be the reason. It does the job better than any other seat I've tried (and I've tried many). The pain from my coccyx bone is gone, the pinched nerve is better, and I can sleep without that constant pain in my butt (except for my husband, but that's another story). How I wish I found this cushion years ago! At first, it feels a little strange and seems hard, but it's easy to get used to--and then the realization set in that most of my sitting pain is gone and I'm a VERY happy camper. No numbness, no pain, just relief in being able to sit without pain! Love, love this cushion. There are only two drawbacks for me--it's very heavy, and I wish that the cushion tapered more at the front--but those two things are insignificant to the benefits this cushion gives me. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has seating issues due to weight, disabilities, or whatever condition that may require special seating.

Best Cushion I've Purchased. Impressive longevity and durability
I bought a 2015 Toyota Tacoma 3.5 months before I bought this cushion. I am 4'11 and have C.P. The seats in the truck were HORRIBLY uncomfortable, and I looked like a "little person" driving it, so I invested in this cushion. I have had it now for close to four years, and it is still, undoubtedly, the very best cushion I have ever owned. It raised me up at LEAST two inches and is still incredibly comfortable. I am spoiled now to the point where I'll probably never buy from another company, if for no other reason but because of the quality and longevity alone. After three years, here are a few thoughts and suggestions: Yes, the cushion stays in place...within reason. I don't "get" in and out of my truck. Usually, it's more like a "slide and lift." Because I have a booty, the cushion does slide a bit, but that's me, not the cushion, cover, or quality, so if your anything like me, and you're going to use it in your car, keep that in mind. It's not your standard cushion. The cushion is heavier than cotton or foam-filled cushions. The cover is not necessarily a slippery material like silk, but it will move with the pressure YOU put on it. Also, the glue used on the cover velcro WILL melt in the high heat and make a huge mess on the cover and your seats. I had to use a bottle of Goo Gone, patience, and "elbow grease" to get it all cleaned up. I lived in NM at the time, and temperatures in the summer got really high. Instead of velcro, I would love to see adjustable buckles added to the cushion so that I could strap it down and adjust the tightness as needed; that would be awesome! I have come back here to see if I can replace the cover because after four years, weather, heat, and use, the velcro and glue are gone, it's cracking all over, and it's leaving little pieces of itself all over. For now, I've just placed a towel under the cushion to keep the mess off of my seats. Hoping for good news!

Needs some improvement.
It's a decent cushion. Would give 3 1/2 stars. I do feel it compresses when you have sat on it for a couple of hours. It needs to be "fluffed up". So for me I would like it to be a little thicker and firmer. I like that the edges are flat, some cushions have an edge that have a curve that sort of cups you; which are uncomfortable for me.

Well Worth The Investment
I have neuropathic pain and a good seat cushion is a must for me. I had a fairly good one that I purchased online, but lost it. The company no longer offers it and I was forced to find an alternative. I spent a fair amount of time comparing brands, models, etc. both on Amazon and on the manufacturer's sites. The reviews were all over the place and it was difficult to make a choice. I finally settled on The General and I'm very glad I did. It's larger and heavier than the previous one, but there is no comparison with the comfort. For the first time I am able to sit in any kind of chair or seat without pain. I've used it in the car on a three hour trip which would have been unbearable even with my previous cushion, but with The General, I was able to last the entire trip without discomfort. I was a bit reluctant to make this purchase because it's a bit pricy, but now that I have it, I consider it well worth the investment.
