Davidson's Organics, Gunpowder Green, Loose Leaf Tea, 16-Ounce Bag(Packaging May Vary)

This is a review of the organic Gunpowder Green variety. The tea is great. The leaves are rolled in attractive balls that release as water hits them (explaining the gunpowder name). I enjoy this either hot (steeped for about a minute with 180 degree water), where I frequently have enough flavor left for a second steeping, or as a cold brew tea. You can find lots of recipes online, but this makes an almost perfect replica of the Itoen brand iced bottled teas. Very refreshing and crisp on a hot summer day!

We have been using this loose leaf tea for several years now. It is a great price for the quality. You won't regret purchasing it!

This is one of my favorite green tea. I have been using it for a while now. It has a good amount so it will last a long time. You only nees to add a pinch and it will give it a great flavor and color.

It's a great green tea, unfortunately I personally wouldn't call it gunpowder. It's very loosely rolled, doesn't quite capture the smokiness and depth of other gun powder teas. It does have a great deep floral flavor typical of pan fired greens but that's exactly what I'd call this, a loose leaf pan fired green. Gunpowder green should have tight hand rolled leaves that resemble... Gunpowder. This resembles dried loose leaf tea.

This Gunpowder tea has a faint floral taste, the best I've tasted so far. I follow the recommended brewing strength (1-2 tsps per cup) and it comes out perfect, just don't drink it at night like me! If I had to, I could give up coffee for this tea!

I am new to drinking tea, I won't lie. And the only other tea I've tried was a Rooibos Green Tea that was in much smaller particles. While I liked the taste, I didn't notice any effects on my energy levels or overall health. When that ran out, I decided to try a different brand and settled on this due to the price per ounce and the overwhelmingly popular reviews. I can definitely see why people like this so much! The biggest difference I've noticed in this is the size of the particles. This is tightly rolled "pellets" according to the listing, which will definitely explain why it expands so much while brewing. I can put a teaspoon of dry tea in the infuser and when I'm ready to drink it, it has expanded to 4 or 5 times that amount in wet leaves. So this is great if you have an infuser that allows it to uncurl properly, but if theres not enough room, I'm not sure if it will brew properly. I'm honestly not sure how this works. I have also noticed a huge difference in the energy levels this gives me. I have completely stopped drinking coffee and switched to this. I have more energy, it goes down easier, I don't get that gross sweaty feeling that coffee gives me, and I just feel "cleaner" overall. I am officially a fan of Green Tea! I did not like the taste at first as it was much more bitter than the kind I had been drinking, but I've found that if I add a small amount of high quality honey into it, it brings it down a notch and I really enjoy it. I'm incredibly happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it! Almost forgot to say that it would be a good idea to find a good airtight container to store most of this until you need it. I've moved about 2/3 of this bag into a container to keep it from going stale or losing nutrients. Its a big bag.
