Cushy and well made
This is an extremely well made cushion. It is slightly heavy but it won't be something you necessarily move around much and it does have a carry handle on one side for that purpose. I bought it for my elderly dad who spends a lot of time now in his electric scooter, and had been complaining of an aching hip at the end of the day. He says it's very comfortable, and much more cushy than the scooter seat. It does have a "gel" like feel to the top - the bottom may be foam. It did raise him up in the seat a few inches, and I was a little worried he might not fit under the kitchen table when he rolled up to it, but it worked fine. For the quality and durability of workmanship, I think this is a good purchase.

Perfect wheelchair cushion
This cushion fit my wheelchair perfectly. Definitely made a difference in my comfort while I was in my wheelchair for 4 months after a leg fracture.

Great product other than slick cover material
The quality of the product is outstanding. Very comfortable and fits the seat perfectly. I dropped a star only because the cover material is too slick. My mom slips forward too easily while in her chair. We wrapped the cushion with a bath towel to give it some friction. If there’s a way to make the product cover have some texture to it to hold the person in place better, that would be a huge improvement.

Very sturdy, just soft enough, good quality
I have a problem with my sciatic and piriformis and suffer from fibromyalgia. If I sit on a hard surface for 5 minutes, I get pain and numbness in my glutes and down the right leg so I end up squirming as I drive. I bought this for a car seat, which is too hard (they are all too hard in new cars). I have tried other cushions and I think this one is great. It's got the right ingredients of size and thickness and is not too firm or too soft. The 2 inch thickness is great. I'll use it for a week and write an update. It's a heavy cushion (3 lbs or so), so it does not move around on the car seat. It's very resilient and has the right amount of cushioning. I am 160 lbs male and this works very well so far for me. It does raise you up by 2 inches but I just lower the car seat all the way down and it's fine. I am only 5 foot 7 though. The gel is hidden deep inside the foam cushion and there's a sturdy cover and a handle built in. You should definitely give this one a try. I like the size, 18x16. I actually wish it was even a little bigger. I hid the cushion under a seat cover so the seat looks good. I may get one for the passenger side because my sister also has pain when she sits and the price is good.

Heavy for arthritis crippled elder
I bought this for my 91 year old mother-in-law who is bound to a wheelchair because of arthritis. She found it comfortable, but, though it doesn't seem that heavy to me, she found it added enough weight to her wheelchair to make it harder to push herself around. I had not considered that at all. She is right at the edge of not being able to push herself around with her crippled legs and hands. Otherwise this cushion is of sufficient quality for the prince and I I now use it in my truck.

Useful product
My husband has leg joint issues and recently had a hip replacement. He is able to walk with a cane now, but we got this cushion to set in the car seat and in his chairs in the house. It's sturdily constructed but not heavy and is easy to carry because it has a loop for that purpose on one end. It is doing a great job of making his seats comfortable and easier for him to get into and out of. We've been using it about a month now, and it shows no signs of wear. I have no doubt it does an excellent job when used for its intended purpose of cushioning a wheelchair seat.

Two have leaked at 5 months, no warranty support. Don't buy Drive Medical products!
I bought this for my car seat. I drive 4 hours back and forth each weekend to a vacation home, plus 30 minute each way to work during the week. This cushion made the drive much more comfortable, though I had to trim the front edge foam a bit to make a waterfall edge to prevent putting pressure on the underside of my thighs. However, it just sprang a leak this weekend. Apparently it is liquid-filled. Fortunately I had left it leaning on edge in the garage waiting to be transferred to a different car and the next morning there was a puddle underneath. I remembered hearing a squeaking, hissing sound a few days earlier when sitting on it in the car. That must have been when it developed a leak. I haven't figured out yet how to contact the manufacturer to see if there is a warranty. I certainly expected it to last at last a year. Nov 29th, 2011 update: Almost exactly 5 months after buying my second cushion in mid-June (never found a way to get a warranty replacement for the first one) and using it daily in my car, it leaked liquid silicone fluid! The second one I bought directly from Amazon because I discovered the manufacturer, Drive Medical, doesn't support its products directly but requires the customer to contact the dealer. This is the oppposite of most companies for online products. The dealer from whom I had purchased the first cushion was no longer visible on Amazon at the time of the first leak, and of course the nature of Amazon's marketplace vendors is they can be essentially invisible (no address, no phone number is required) and drift away into the night. So I felt confident that if it leaked again, Amazon LLC would stand behind it and support the one year warranty stated on Drive Medical's website. I initiated an online chat with Amazon customer service today and not surprisingly, they had no way to provide warranty suppport for this product. But they did make an exception and offered me a full refund if I returned the product using their UPS label. But anyone would have to be stupid to buy Drive Medical products since the warranty is meaningless. And they sell lots of products on Amazon, many of them quite expensive. It's a shame because the gel cushion really worked for me, but having it leak silicon fluid every five months and having no effective warranty, I'll just have to do without or find another brand of gel cushion.
