The book was wrapped when it arrived and made a great gift for my Arabic friend. It transported him back home. Such a beautiful collection of love poems.

The book came in perfect condition, clean, no pages ripped, etc. I'm in love with the poetry & translation for each poem. 10/10 book.

Nizar's poetry has already withstood the test of time, and for a reason. He's one of the best love poets ever, and if you're thinking about whether or not to read him, just do it.Regarding this specific book, it's a great collection of love poems that are better translated that I would have thought possible! I'm a native Arabic speaker, but I speak English better, and I wanted the English just as a reference in case I didn't know an Arabic word. The English poems retain most of the beauty, or rather convey the beauty in a new way.I'm already planning on gifting this item to introduce a few people to Nizar.Update: I have no idea why this has doubled in price in the last few yrs. It's still reasonably priced at 16-17 at other bookstores, including Barnes and Noble.

Between the work hours, I wanted something that was simple and easy to come back to, if I had to be pulled away. However, these poems really are something special and captivate my attention. I don't know much about Nizaar Qabbani but I get a little sense of what he was like reading through these pages. I'm glad I've gotten the chance to take in some of his work, and I'll continue to come back when I get a little ache in my heart for something pure and real.

Beautiful poems, some brought tears to my eyes.Written from a man's perspective. I wish I could meet this deeply emotional and romantic person.

I got this as a gift to my sisters for Christmas. It is a great gift as it it has both the Arabic and English text and provide a great entertainment for multilingual households. The Arabic handwritten text by Nizar Kabbani is a real treat.

I had previously ordered a book "Entering the Sea:The Erotic and other poetry of Nizar Qabbani" and didnt realize that this is more of his work, the names were spelled differently(Where were my eyes that day?) but really, I was pleased to have it, because it provided me with even more of his beautiful poetry to enjoy.The love that pours out of these words is amazing,I can only wish that someone loved me enough to write words like this with such heat and intensity of feelings!So do yourself a favor and read this book.You may need potholders though.....some of it can get rather warm! :)
