Statistical Inference, 2nd Edition

It's a classic
This is the classic textbook that most universities have as their reference book for an introductory course on Mathematical Statistics. There might be some confusion about the level of the book as to whether it is introductory, or advanced. For students who are pursuing PhD in statistics, this is an introductory book and this material is covered in upper undergraduate courses for stats majors in mathematics departments. However, it is a graduate text for other disciplines like bio-statistics. This book is the starting point for the progression of learning for an aspiring statistics PhD candidate and the entire progression is given by1. Upper undergraduate -- Casella and Beger2. Graduate -- Probability and measure -- Billingsley/Williams etc3. Graduate -- Lehmann and Casella (Estimation)4. Graduate -- Lehmann and Romano (Testing)5. Graduate -- Van der Vaart (Asymptotics)6. Advanced Graduate -- Wainwright, Vershynin
