SOLOVAIR Men's 8 Eye Derby Made in England

These boots are amazing! I’ve wanted a pair of docs for a very long time. I went to order a pair but noticed that most of them are now made in China or some other Asian country. When I think of docs I want British made boots!I did some research and learned about solovair, this is the company that made all docs boots in England. Solovair has not moved any of their production off shore, they are still all made in England. They don’t offer a cheap product, all of their boots are premium. I also read that whole docs quality has slipped and they’re “not what they used to be” the solovair boots have remained great and they are the same quality as the original docs. The air cushion sole is the same, the leather is the same, they’re made in the same factory. From everything I’ve read the solovair boots are actually superior to the docs.As far as these boots go they are fantastic. The leather is like nothing I’ve ever seen, it’s shiny and smooth, the texture is almost rubber like. They are also extremely light weight. I was surprised when I took these out of the box. I’ve always had an image as to what a pair of docs was like and this wasn’t it. It was surprising but, not in a bad way. The boots fit very well and were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I’ve worn them all day at work for the last 2 days and they have been extremely comfortable and supportive. The soles have excellent grip and great padding. They stay tied tight all day long and look really good while they’re doing it.There are only 2 “issues” that I’ve had. First is that they squeak, badly. When you step it sounds like when you walk on snow. The second thing is that where the tongue meets the toe cap there is a small flap of leather there and when you put your foot in it folds down and causes a pressure point on top of your foot. It sounds dumb but I put a piece of tape in there to keep the flap from folding down and these have been the most comfortable boots I’ve worn.All in all I am so glad that I ordered these. You get great looks, incredible comfort, and the pride of wearing a quality pair of British made boots. There is nothing to not love.

I am very experienced with leather boots and shoes, but have always wanted to try a pair of Docs. After reading about the history(which I do for all brands I buy), I decided the best way to get original style docs was to not buy docs at all and get some Solovair boots.To start, these are my only pair of not full-grain leather footwear. The corrected grain leather looks very uniform and smooth which is good for matching the look with my other clothes.These boots are EXACT to the brannock device. They are not a size big or a size small, they will be your actual foot measurements on the most widely used measuring device in the world. I purchased a Men's US Size 9 and these are about an inch shorter than Allen Edmonds of the same size, 3/4 inch shorter than my Red Wings of the same size, a 1/2 inch shorter than my Danners of the same size, a 1/2 shorter than my Chippewas of the same size, and I think you can catch the drift here.The outsoles are immediately more comfortable than any other shoe I have, including the Vibram Cristy wedge outsole and the Vibram gumlite outsole.Ignore the 2 star review as they have no idea what they are talking about. If you look into what you buy ahead of time, you would know that these aren't made to be waterproof, and the process of creating corrected grain leather makes it seem like a coating or shell was put on, however it is just a high gloss finish that involves removing the rough outer layer of the skin.As my least expensive footwear, these are already some of my favorite and it has only been a few hours. I will update this review after the break in.

I've had a pair of the black, 1460 made in england docs for over three years now and these are actually more comfortable to be honest. These have the same fit as the made in england docs, so order your same size. Quality is great as expected. Love them!

I had high hopes for these boots. Seeing as they are made in the same NPS factory as the made in England Dr. Marten’s. The fit were as expected. If you know your size in Dr. Marten’s you know your size in solovairs. The construction of the boots are top notch except for one issue. In the area where the tongue meets the vamp there is a hole on either side where water and particulates can enter the shoe. The leather is another problem. The smooth leather on these boots are actually a split hide that is coated with some kind of black spray coating. It has a plastic smell. Seeing as you are paying close to heritage price for these boots I would expect better. This non-permeable coating will make it impossible to treat the leather beneath it with any type of conditioner, which will shorten the life of the leather. Also coatings have a bad habit of cracking. They are lucky to get two stars.

Woman here. Feet fits property on the length of the insole but my ankle is too thin to make my foot stay inside the foot (heel slip). I'm size 6 on doc martens luana so I bought the same size with this boot. ,I use two socks so my heels won't slip (compression socks + thick socks). I tried using an insole with just one sock but that didn't help. I measured the length and width of my feet before deciding on the size (following the sizing guide of solovaire UK and US distributor) but still weren't able to get the proper size.Other than that, there's no issue. Boots looks great. its light brown in colour. I waxed (sno seal) it to waterproof the boots which made it look abit darker (means the boots absorbed the wax properly), which i preferred more anyway. It's abit heavy for me but that's because I'm used to wearing sneakers.

My husband absolutely loves this boot! This company makes a solid well made , beautiful boots ! Like how Doc Martins USED to be made !
