More Windows and doors
I was little overwhelmed by " new info " on how to do a search and theses processes had /were evolving just my skills in genealogy research are evolving.Just the resources 35+ yrs ago were "books on the shelf" now access now is much easier, limited by only not knowing the records exist and bureaucracy of getting to the records. There is SO much I have to do to make sure my children know their ancestors and are proud of those ancestors AND be glad I was ablearchive what have and that more complete info was findable. I will re-read this book many times in my continuing genealogy and my old hard copies. There is always something learn in something you've already read.Don't give up, on your search for "family ", because there, is really a forest we have to navigate from "roots to sprouts". We have to adapt how we do things.Otherwise we won't grow. Get the book, read it get busy.

Very Useful In Making The Most of My Ancestry Membership
This book has helped me so much already and I just bought it a couple of weeks ago. I feel it is helping me make the most of my Ancestry subscription. I keep it next to my computer during the day when I am working on my family tree and if I have a question, it is in this book. Easier to use than searching for help on Ancestry's site. I keep reading it and studying it and making notes on what to do when I am back on my computer.Thank you for writing this book!

Book as NOT been updated in 2016.
6-3-2016 Book has NOT been updated for 2016, per a phone call with the publishing company this morning. There are no plans, at this date, for an update. The publishing company has no control over what is written on the Amazon site.In bold print: "updated in 2016 to include the most recent changes to the site"Initial impressions: Detailed index (always a plus). I will be especially interested in the interaction between Ancestry and Family Tree Maker.Future updates as available.

A Must Purchase Reference Book
This a great book for genealogy. I so very much prefer to refer to a paper bok that a help screen where have to travel through a maze of questions to finally (hopefully get the right answer. )

Since this a reference book I have not read it ...
Since this a reference book I have not read it cover to cover but I have read enough to say that it is very comprehensive in its coverage of using Ancestry.com. I didn't realize this when I bought the book and that is the reason I rated it four stars. I was expecting a more general approach to learning how to dig up my ancestor's bones.

Good companion
This is a nice resource book for those getting started in genealogy and for those working with Ancestry.com. It includes blank forms to use for record keeping as one does research. I like the many ideas for sources that can be used. I like books to make notes in as I work.Price on Amazon was also savings over regular price.

A good tool to have!
This is a good reference book. We had already been on Ancestry.com for a month or so when I ordered the book. It would have been more help if we had had this book from the beginning. But it did help answer one questions and it helped a lot with our on-going research. I would recommend.

This book has been a lot of fun it has helped me to get my things faster
This book has been a lot of fun it has helped me to get my things faster. Everything that I had before was from some family members. I also learned too get around the ancestry.com on my own. But it has answered a lot more questions that I had.

Useful but mainly for readers in the U.S.
I think if you live in USA or are researching family there, this would be a 4 or 5 star book. For those in UK, much of the information is not relevant. Nevertheless, it is clearly written, well presented and there are a lot of useful hints which do apply to Ancestry UK. It has helped me develop my tree but, perhaps, not as well as I hoped.

OK, but ...
Admittedly I've not got too deeply into the book yet but my first impression was one of disappointment. It should be stressed that this is primarily US based although there are sections devoted to the UK researcher.

This book is perfect in Kindle format.
First of all, I got the Kindle version and it is perfect to be able to electronic search, copy web links, tips and lists into OneNote (or EverNote) without manually rewriting them. Anyone who says this book is an old repeat of Ancestry.com Help pages has NOT read the book. It is full of advice, strategies and tips and as of today (Feb 16, 2015) was last updated in 2014. Of course there are some how-to's to do certain tasks and why not? But instead of re-writing all the Ancestry Help pages the author sometimes just provides live links to them. Instead of Ancestry's FAQ style of instruction this book is more of a conversational workflow style. Between this book, Ancestry Help and the Ancestry Community you will probably have 90% of everything you will ever need for your genealogy. (anybody want to buy my 6 other genealogy books that are now redundant?) BTW you DO NOT need a Kindle tablet to read a Kindle book. You can download the book on your own device type (Mac, PC or mobile) with the suitable app. All my How-To books are now going to be in Kindle version.
