Important information: FAQ - Date of manufacture - What is the date of manufacture? The date of manufacture is indicated near the line that says "PKD/lot date". It is often expressed in a modified Julian date format using a 4-digit code. The first digit represents the last digit of the year, and the next three digits indicate the day of the year it was packed. For example: 2110 The 2 represents the year 2022 (based on the last digit). 110 represents the 110th day of the year, starting January 1 — which is equivalent to April 20. Thus, 2110 means the MRE was manufactured on April 20, 2022. Note: The date of manufacture is usually three years before the original inspection date. Each meal will have the 4 digit code on the package, you can check each meal to check the outer box. Inspection Date – An inspection date is not an expiration date. MREs do not have an expiration date. The inspection date is the date recommended by the manufacturer to re-inspect your EMRs. This date is always three years after the date of manufacture (packaging). When the inspection date arrives, you must evaluate the MREs. If they pass the inspection, they may receive an extension of another three years. This process can be repeated up to six times, allowing MREs to last up to 20 years. Our MREs have a long service life, with an inspection date three years after the packing date. This means you can store them comfortably at room temperature for 5 years or more, making them a reliable alternative for emergencies or long-term pantry storage. At each meal, enjoy the distinct flavors of Asian, Mexican, Italian, traditional and vegetarian cuisine. We have carefully selected a variety of dishes to meet a wide range of tastes and dietary requirements. Each meal is carefully designed to provide around 1250 calories, ensuring you have the fuel you need to stay energetic in all conditions. But this does not end with the main dishes. Snacks, candy, coffee, cappuccino, milkshakes and beverage base powders are also included with our MREs. Each MRE comes with an accessory bag containing flavors, matches, toilet paper and other survival necessities. PKD/Lot Date – Sometimes you will have the packaged date such as "01/09/23" that you know to mean on January 9, 2023. However, some cases will use a different form (Julian date) such as "3009". In this case, the first digit "3" represents the year (2023) and the following three digits indicate which day of the year (365 days in a year) it was packed. So "9" would be the 9th day of the year 2023… or January 9, 2023. The packaging date corresponds to the date of manufacture of the case in its entirety. INSP/TEST – The inspection date is just that, the manufacturer wants the consumer to open and inspect the food before that date. Once inspected, you can consume accordingly, bearing in mind that some components can last longer than others and should be consumed with discretion. This date is equivalent to a "soft" expiration date or a "best use before" date. Keep in mind that under proper storage conditions, some components will last longer than others.
