I have bought this one a few times. I am sensitive to strong scents, especially something I would apply right under my nose. This one is not too strong. After shaving with a safety razor, I often get some razor burn. This lotion calms the razor burn and helps to tone the skin without the burn of alcoholI really like this scent. It does smell like tobacco and the oakiness of a nice cognac

I have some shaving soap that contains a scent of tobacco leaves and wood. Most of my aftershaves have a citrus scent which really doesn't work well with the soap. I ordered the Cognac and Cubans hoping it would match well with the shave soap. It does. The product works well as a balm, calming my skin after the outrage of having a razor dragged across it. It is not greasy and a little squirt will cover my whole face. The scent certainly works as well and is definitely strong. Not strong as in overpowering but strong as in long lasting. Most aftershaves fade after a few hours. If I shave first thing in the morning, most scents have departed by lunch time. The Cognac and Cubans scent remains well after I've finished work for the day and come home. This balm ended up being exactly what I was looking for.

This balm really, and I mean <<really>> smells like you just opened a humidor full of Cubans and stuck your face inside. For the first 30 minutes to an hour after application, the cigar scent dominates. This eventually fades somewhat revealing a complex vanilla and cognac scent that takes front stage. Personally I enjoy this transition because the cigar scent is strong and perks me right up in the morning ... like a caffeine splash to the face ... but then fades and you're left with the cognac and vanilla. Not too greasy and a little bit goes a long way. Scent lasts most of the day, fading as the day goes on. Also I've never smelled an aftershave like this before, so to me, it is utterly unique.

The scent does have a smokey fragrance but it does not last very long and seems to be quite greasy feeling. Overall, I enjoy it and like the smell because it is different.

This is a very satisfactory, soothing balm that works as well as other, more expensive products. I recommend it.

First time trying out an after shave balm. This product is a semi-solid cream. Dispenses easily from container. Use very little at a time. It is very effective as a moisturing cream for facial skin, so I don't use it as an aftershave anymore. Apply it in the afternoon to refresh my face, and moisture the skin, especially in dry humidity of winter. Fragrance is intriguing until you get used to cognac and tobacco. After that, it's just fun, very nice, and the scent stays for awhile.

This is a thick, heavy balm that doesn’t really work in small amounts but stays on wet and greasy all day with anything more than a small drop going on. Smells like lime flavored Fruit Loops cereal which is nice but not really what limes smell like. All in all I don’t like it, reminds me of a very thick lotion that never absorbs.

I have used dozens and dozens of after shaves, and try new brands regularly. This is hands-down the best after shave balm I've ever used, and that's saying a lot over a 20 year period of time using every after shave you can think of. The scent is intoxicating, and the hydration on your face is unparalleled. A little bit goes a long way, and for the money, it's a generous amount in the bottle. The scent lingers for a good two hours and will leave your freshly-shaven face soft, supple, and hydrated all day.I will buy this over and over again. What an absolutely wonderful product.

This stuff goes on smooth and feels great. The smell is amazing and seems to last hours. As others have said, you only need to use a small amount. Has that cigar, smokey smell with sweet overtones, but isn't overpowering.

Doesn't smell as natural as other shaving soaps. Not much of Sandalwood scent. Not what I expected it to be. Leaves behind a slick and slightly residue.

As someone who tends to butcher his face routinely when shaving, I feel like I am uniquely qualified to assess the effectiveness of an aftershave balm.I have read complaints about this being greasy. I think this is as intended, or should be.This balm by Henri et Victoria truly soothes my face after a, shall we say, difficult shave.It does leave a protective film on the face (you don't need much of it!) and helps heal the skin after scraping a razor blade over it.I am not a fan of their shaving soap - but I will be buying more of the aftershave.
