football shaped bird cage.
This cage is well made, unusual design, and one item that is not well noticed is that seeds do not stay on the bottom...it is wedge shaped and all extra seeds fall out, for the ground feeders. I have seen big birds like Bluejays and Cardinals hang from the outside and stick their head inside to feed.

birds prefer perching on this feeder over others
Because of the angles and sizes of the openings, birds appear to be more comfortable perching on this feeder over some other caged feeders. It's sturdily built and a little weightier than others, so that when birds launch flight, it doesn't swing and sway as much in reciprocation to disturb remaining birds clinging to their perches. Mine came with a chrome cap rather than black as shown, which was really disappointing, so I just removed the cap from the feeder and removed a star from my rating. The feeder is now actually much easier to refill without having to take the feeder down off it's hook and unscrew the cap. Squirrels still can't get at the feed so it actually works better this way.

You have to rebuild it to make it user friendly....
The media could not be loaded. From the factory the unit yields just a couple bolt threads for attaching the suspension ring. Do this:Remove the two screws at the bottom of the mesh seed holder, then lift out the feeder. The bolt threads are heavily gunked up with black paint which can be easily removed with MEK solvent. Do this outdoors to avoid the toxic fumes. Expose about 6-8 threads and attach the suspension ring on and off several times to improve the joint.Reassemble with original screws, but be sure to run them through the second from the last opening in the bottom of the screen mesh....very important because this is the secret to raising the bolt threads higher, which will insure a perfect attachment that will not fail. It's all about the engagement of the bolt and the hanger. To the manufacturer, you need to step up to the plate and introduce these fixes to your product! To seller, please acknowledge and reply. I would appreciate a response.

Not really squirrel proof
We have little brown squirrels as well as the larger grey ones. The little brown ones climbed in through the holes and used the outside grid as a back brace while they chewed away on the seeds. They swung on the feeder and the holding ring broke off and it crashed to the ground bending the bottom edge, so I just used some wire to make a hook for the feeder. The inside feeder part is holding up nicely although the whole thing looks a little wonky.

Excellent squirrel free bird feeder
Wonderful squirrel free bird feeder for sunflower seeds:I bought this feeder about 6 months ago. The squirrels kept tearing up other types of bird feeders before this one.The squirrels tried to get in this one but they couldn't. I keep this feeder full of sunflower seeds and get more and more birds.I bought one for my daughter for her birthday and she likes it. I am buying another feeder for the other side of my house.I hung this feeder right up next to the window and it is so much fun to watch the birds.

Disappointed
The idea is great but the execution leaves much to be desired.First problem was spinning in the wind loosened the screw on ring mountand the whole feeder felled to the ground! Corrected with with a swivel shackle but withina few weeks the interior screen began to come apart!

Squirrels hate this feeder!
This one is definitely squirrel-proof! Unfortunately, because of the small volume it holds, it's usually empty within a day, but then again, I live in the country.

again, this is ideal for small birds - they can go inside as to the big bird....ha!ha!

Wouldn't recommend
Bought as a gift and it was kind of disappointing. While it looks like a neat feeder, recipient wasn't able to find seeds to fit, all were either too small and would just fall out, or too large and birds couldn't get them out, even the ones recommended on the tag didn't work. Wouldn't recommend.

Squirrel proof
Took the birds a little time to figure out how to get to the seed. But now they use it all the time. Only the very small birds can access this feeder. The best part is that the squirrels cannot eat the bird seed.

GOOD AND NOT SO GOOD ABOUT THIS FEEDER.
I WAS LOOKING FOR A FEEDER THAT WOULD ACCOMODATE LARGER BIRDS THAN A SIMILAR ONE WITH A SMALLER OUTSIDE CAGE THAT JUST LETS GOLDFINCH AND SIMILAR SIZED BIRDS IN. I WOULD LIKE TO LET CARDINALS AND GROSBEAKS IN AS WELL. I ALSO USE SHELLED SUNFLOWER SEEDS TO AVOID THE MESS OF SHELL ON MY DECK AND THIS FEEDERS INSIDE MESH WON'T ACCOMODATE SMALLER SEED. IT MIGHT BE BETTER IF, LIKE MY OTHER FEEDER IT WAS A BIT LONGER AND HAD A PLASTIC TUBE FEEDER WITH PERCHES ON IT INSIDE THE CAGE. I WILL GIVE IT ANOTHER YEAR TO SEE WHAT THE GRACKLES DO WITH IT. THEY HAVE ALREADY LEFT OUR AREA. I LKE THE CONCEPT WITH THE LARGER CAGE OPENINGS BUT IT COULD USE SOME TWEAKING. IT IS ATTRACTIVE.
