I tried this and it seems to work just as described. From the time you can get the direction. It also makes a pretty fair sundial if you have the direction. It’s lightweight — and a bandana, which has a lot of uses. A tad expensive, but it’s great for a bug out bag or in your camping gear.

Thin cotton, and and 1/2" smaller than advertised.

Can't wait to get out and use it.
