I have one that fits on the bottle well but doesn't tighten or seal. Is it defective or am i doing something wrong?

I wouldn’t call it defective, but poorly designed and manufactured. The screw mechanism that expands the gasket (which presses against the inside of the bottle’s neck, forming a seal) easily gets stuck. The”stop” for the screw is a notch that’s been crimped into the screw. It will easily get stuck. There’s no way to fix that without dismantling the device.

I have one of these and it seems to work as stated but when I tighten it, it sits crooked on the bottle. Am I over-tightening or putting it on wrong?

Beware, its plastic and it will break if you tighten it too much.- It happened to me, before tighten it you have to sit it all the way in the bottle

Anybody hear it pop like it breaks if you turn it too tight? It is loose after the pop so I turned and tightened, but I'm not sure it seals well.

I had the same issue. The seal wouldn't seal unless I turned it all the way and it would often click/pop without fully sealing the bottle. It would take a few tries before it would partially seal the bottle. Now, despite careful use, the unit is broken and just spins without expanding. Only got a few months of sporadic use out of it. I would shy away from this model
