Envigo (Formerly Harlan) Teklad Growth Rat Food Diet Global 2018 (20lbs)

My baby squirrel loves these and they're vegetable flavor however I wish I could've bought a smaller bag and it was cheaper. I paid $30 for a 5lb bag because the smaller bags were seafood flavor and I wouldn't suggest that flavor for a squirrel.

Perfect for baby squirrels

I fed this to my three juvenile female ratties. The 20lb came divided into about 4 vacuum-sealed foil bags, and lasted for about 7 months. My rats ate this along with fresh fruits and veggies, plus various treats. They loved it, grew well, and have healthy coats.

Our baby rats had been doing well on Oxbow, but we decided to try this for some variety. I was a little nervous about buying something repackaged, but I also definitely didn’t want a giant bag in case they didn’t like it. My plan had been to mix the two foods, but on the first day the rats only ate this one and left the Oxbow in their bowl. I tried for several more days to get them to at least finish the rest of the bag of Oxbow which they had eaten with no problem, but they absolutely refused even when that’s all I gave them for a few hours. So, whoever thought rats can’t be discriminating was incorrect! They are growing and seem very healthy on this supplemented with fresh fruits and veggies etc.I will continue to order this one until they’re old enough to switch to the 2014. I’m very glad this food has been made available to pet owners!

This product is a huge step up from Mazuri as far as nutrition goes, which is what my two young male rats have been on. At my work we feed this stuff to our feeder rats so I took a few blocks home and mixed it with their Mazuri blocks and they chose the Harlan/Teklad over the Mazuri, they even fought over the block lol. A 5lb of this stuff is like $11-$12 And I just did standard shipping and it came in a week, while a 2lb of Mazuri is typically $12-15 depending on where you get it. You get 3 pounds of extra food with this product for the same price as a 2lb Mazuri bag which is amazing. I’m giving it 4 stars because you’ll likely need to have an alternate way to store the blocks, I have a distribution container that about 1/5 of the bag fit in, the rest went into a freezer ziplock bag wonderfully. Also when I got the food, a corner of the paper bag was ripped open.

I purchased this food per a recommendation from a rat forum that it was a high-quality and nutritious food. I started mixing it in with their current food (Oxbow), and they go nuts over it! Every time I put in a mixture, they go through and pick out this stuff first until it's completely gone, and only then will they go back to their other food! One of my boys even makes hoards of it before it runs out. The seller was prompt and I received my order very quickly.I did notice a few other reviews saying they had to put it in a different container to store it, but they may have changed their packaging as I got the 5lb bag in a sturdy, resealable bag.

They would eat a little too much haha but they loved eating these. The pellets were pretty big and they smelled decent. My rats fur was sleek and they were a healthy weight. I think it was because of these, I tried giving them Oxbow pellets and instantly noticed they were not as good (the quality was subpar). I also tried Kaytee and Mazuri. They actually liked Mazuri a lot, I was just worried about the corn quantity in them. These are the best for your rats.

Baby ratties (about 2 months old) love it. They refused oxbow baby rat food and I heard good reviews for this brand. Transition from home-made was not as difficult as I thought it would be with these blocks. Re-sealable bag is hard to seal back up but I have it in an air tight bin and still fresh (1 month later). I keep it right next to the babies cage so they’ve learned the sound and get so excited! Edit: 5 lb bag lasted me a little over a month (~6 weeks). Will be purchasing larger bag!
