A must have in any bellydancers library. Great tips and advice to make any costume or creation look its very best. The part that it tells you how to use certain costume based on your body features is simply superb. Great buy, great book!!

A very comprehensive book, and detailed in most construction techniques and beading. Excellent and easy to follow instructions. I have been costuming for 20 years and I find this a valuable resource.

This book has been written with the view of helping people that are just starting out with designing their own decorated bra-and-belt bellydance sets. It begins with a brief overview of various costume styles (both traditional and modern) and the key features within them; then goes into more detail about designing the beaded and sequined bras and belts; and finishes with a section about what to do for the rest of the costume (garments and accessories).The techniques described are fairly basic and are explained in language that is easy to understand. I have a background in design, fashion and dressmaking, and bought this book as an added aid for designing costumes for my dancing. Although the techniqes may not be as advanced as others out there, it is well worth the read and a great tool for anyone who needs help with their costumes - I will certainly be refering to it in the future.Overall, a very well-written and concise book about designing bellydance costumes.

This is another FANTABulous Devine book packed full of great ideas! A must have for every dance library! I bought this as well a number of years ago and have used it many times for guidance and inspiration. I especially love this costume primer, as Miss Devine really covers all of the costume elements from A to Z. This is a wonderful book for any one at any level of the dance.

Very good book. I had bought her book on how to embellish bras and I think the instructions in this book about the same thing is alot easier to understand (re: pattern making for the bra)...Great overview on the history of Bellydance costume. Overall alot of good tips on costuming and it really helps in terms of making or purchasing an ensemble to work best with your own body type. Hows on emphasizing or de-emphasizing areas of the body. Also, with the historic background it helps to chose something to best fit what type of bellydance you will be learning.

Ero alla ricerca di un libro come questo da molto tempo, ma non avendo trovato niente del genere in lingua italiana, dopo aver visto l'anteprima e il sommario, ho deciso di comprarlo e devo dire che sono davvero molto soddisfatta dell'acquisto: il testo è scritto molto bene e ha un approccio molto pratico al mondo dei costumi di danza del ventre. Ottimo manuale per la realizzazione di costumi per la danza orientale. Unico neo la disponibilità esclusivamente in lingua inglese e le immagini in bianco e nero, per questo motivo non do le 5 stelle.
