Get a 15mm 'Torque Multipler' wrench to get the manifold nuts off!
Overall, great value for the $$, but misinformation in the listing.I installed this about two months ago in a 1998 12v, auto transmission, as a spare while my Holset was being rebuilt. Nothing went wrong. I'm serious about getting a closed-end 12pt, 15mm torque multiplier wrench to get the manifold nuts off! There is plenty of bull$(%^ on the internet about using a socket, including 16mm, the wrong size, which is not possible on two of the four nuts. Douse liberally with PB Blaster or equivalent, and go eat lunch while it soaks in. Or better yet, wait overnight. DO NOT USE AN OPEN END WRENCH! I used a stubby 15mm 12-point wrench with a large wrench prying on the shaft to both loosen and tighten. Wish I had the torque multiplier. . . The sellers information about oil feeds, however, is incomplete. If your truck has all OEM Dodge oil feed lines and returns, no matter if it is manual or auto transmission, then this is a direct bolt in. The feed flange has the two 8mm threaded holes for a feed adapter, but you don't use them. The drain flange is same as OEM. The OEM Dodge threaded oil feed line adapter and o-ring threads directly into the feed port, which also includes a smooth bore at the top for the o-ring, just like stock. I'd replace that o-ring anytime the oil feed was apart. Also, be sure to check the oil feed line for internal collapse and blockage. Blow some air through it and make sure it's good. WARNING-- If you have some kind of aftermarket oil feed, MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO RESTRICTORS, and be sure the feed line size and fittings are AT LEAST AN-6. This is not a ball bearing turbo! It needs all the oil it can get. Same goes for the OEM Holset. The OEM Holset p/n is different for manual vs auto transmissions, even though the two are mechanically identical. Don't know for sure, but I think the auto transmission OEM version may have the waste gate open earlier than the manual transmission version-- a little higher boost in the manual version -- but as most vintage Dodge auto transmissions (notoriously crappy) have been rebuilt for strength, the extra 20hp or so probably is a good thing. I towed a heavy trailer for almost 2K miles right after the installation and the turbo ran about 10-13lbs boost at highway speeds no problem. It's has a little more compressor whine than stock Holset as it doesn't have the Dodge acoustic ring at the Holset compressor inlet that the Dodge does. Basically your truck just sounds more like a big-boy truck anyway. The noise is not objectionable. Overall, this is a good deal.
