This is a great book if you’re interested in this subject. Vast amount of information about the weapons of the Caucasus mountains, Cossack, ottomans, tatars, ect.

This much awaited book is a must for both the novice collector and the seasoned researcher. Moreover, the excellent quality photos of equally excellent examples that richly illustrate the book make it at the same time a very pleasant and enjoyable eye candy. Moreover, the book features truly exceptional in-depth analysis of the particulatrities of every major area of the Caucasus sheding much light into the contoversial subject of geographical location and identification of the weapons from that area.

This is the first serious study of the subject in English, and the author has thrown himself into his research and produced a well written account of Arms with a clear insight that seems to be missing in other publications. The book covers the historical aspect well enough but it is in the weapons themselves that this work excels. The styles, the methods, the decoration and the craftsman are wonderfully explained and the different regional variations are nicely defined. I have a passion for wootz/bulat and the chapter offers a new insight on its production. There are enough glossy images of high quality to keep those interested in pictures alone happy, but for me the text is the real meat on the bone. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

By far the best book on this not well known subject. It provides concise description of the historical background, and goes into detailed discussion of Caucasian weapons. Very well written and has great pics of the best examples of Caucasian and Transcaucasian weapons. Detailed description of separate features ( blades, handles, decorations etc) guiding the reader interested in dating and attribution. Six stars out of five! Anyone interested in this topic should get a copy while it lasts. I can see that some sites already offer it for exorbitant prices: those will go only up in the future!

This is great book, with some of the most detail information about Arms and Armour of the Caucasus region. I have a copy of the book I use as my go to resource. Very accurate and detailed information. If you are studying this area or doing research you need that as reference book.
