The Mexican

Gandolfini almost steals this film as the sensitive & caring killer
The Mexican is a dark comedy about Brad Pitt as Jerry who works for a gangster and is given the task of retrieving a gun from Mexico. The problem is his girlfriend Samantha played by Julia Roberts threatens to leave him if he goes. This leads to nothing but trouble as Jerry doesn’t speak Spanish, has no idea what he’s doing in Mexico and finds himself way over his head. Samantha on the other hand gets kidnapped by James Gandolfini as Winston to make sure Jerry does his job. The movie is about Jerry and Samantha’s misadventures.Jerry and Samantha’s lives take divergent paths in the film. Jerry’s time in Mexico is a comedy of errors as soon as he arrives such as when he asks for a “Mexican car” and gets an old El Dorado. Samantha on the other hand forms a friendship with Winston and they talk about all their intimate secrets. Surprisingly Winston almost steals the entire movie. He is not only a killer, but he turns out to be very sensitive, smart, and caring. He listens to all of Samantha’s problems. Gandolfini really did a great job with this role. You think he's the typical gangster which he became famous for later in the Sopranos but he's actually much, much more.Overall the Mexican has a very strange and unexpected plot. There are all kinds of issues you wouldn’t expect in such a film such Winston’s character.

LOVE this movie. IT's such a little gem.
We love this movie. We have watched it a few different times. It has such great moments. It is cute, funny and I love all the twists and turns. Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts are so good with their fighting and "blame shifting" 😀 --- And James Gandolfini is really good in his role as well. Just a great little movie.

Gandolfini saves it
roberts and pitt were kinda annoying, and the whole thing was beginning to irk me, when gandolfini came on. Then, I dunno, it just started to jell, and what had been awkward and distracting became an engaging story. And after Gandy's time came, and he wasn't in the movie anymore, it was ok. Surprise was gene hackman, and he did his bit part beautifully, consummate pro. I'm not sayin' the ending was a surprise, but it was maybe a bit novel, with the old gun and the ring and I'm not sayin' if the ending was sad, happy or bitter or bitter-sweet, but it was kinda touching.

From the outset, the actors look uncomfortable
From the outset, the actors look uncomfortable in their roles and squeezing out their lines. I love JR, BP I'm not so sure about... but man, if this was the only film you saw them you'd think they were B actors! Aww, such a shame.

Tears of joy at the end LOVE IT!
Julia Roberts was so frustrating with her babling on when she couldn't get it together, I end up saying get rid of her, she was getting on my nerves. That was the only part that I hated. I loved the dog and at the end he always had a home. I almost changed the movie because I don't like watching movies with animals because they always end up hurt. I let it ride because of the actors maybe thinking with those two they wouldn't stand for letting a animal get hurt, I stayed tune.

One of my all time favorite movies
Action packed, funny-as-hell movie that any romantic person will love! I'm not a big fan of Julia Roberts or Brad Pitt but they were both perfect in their roles. The movie should have received an academy award by actor James Gandolfini. The movie revolves around the story's main line... If two people really love each other, but they just can't seem to get it together, when is enough? Enough!

In one of the best scenes, Julia Roberts catches gangster James Gandolfini giving ...
Here's another overlooked movie masterpiece. Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini. This is one of those slyly metafictional stories using a gun as kind of an objective correlative or a McGuffin--. "The Mexican" actually refers to this gun, which represents a powerful object at the center of a group of vastly divergent tales explaining or not its provenance. We're in Mexico. stuck until things work out. Everyone's kind of on the lam in one way or another. In one of the best scenes, Julia Roberts catches gangster James Gandolfini giving a cute guy the eye. "James, you had a moment there." Priceless.

'El Camino'
A very enjoyable film, and the late James Gandolfini certainly steals the scenes he is in, and also starring a youthful looking Julia Roberts too, great entertainment, with a surprise appearance of the great Gene Hackman at the end.

A very interseting movie thats even better on blu ray
The Mexican is a very good movie in my opinion. Interesting story and great actors like Brad Pit, Julia Roberts and James Gandolfini from ( Sopranos). Its a German release but it includes English DTS HD 5.1 sound as well. Picture quality is great as well. I loved the dvd so decided to invest on the blu ray as well. If you love this movie get it as you will love it more on blu ray.

Great story - well told!
This is a fantastic film that has something for everyone - it's funny, it's moving, it's exciting and it's well acted, a gripping story with some excellent twists and beautifully filmed. You will bond with the characters quickly and be desperate to know how it all works out right till the last second.
