Keeps water hot for ages
This kettle is fabulous and it actually saves money as you don't need to keep re-boiling the water. Once boiled, the insulation keeps water hot for ages afterwards. I haven't exactly timed how long the water stays hot as it has always been perfect for instant coffee or hot squashes. Simple to pour out by holding the tab down and you get a well regulated flow.

Excellent
Fabulous. Quiet and quick. Really excellent. Only improvement would be having an outside water measurement so you can see without opening it. Otherwise, highly recommended and does what is says - keeps the water hot. UPDATE: After 18 months, the tab on the lid broke. I could still use it but had to twist the lid each time to open. Contacted Vektra and they have provided a new lid free - THANK-YOU! My only wish now was that it was much bigger, because it holds the heat so well but I use it all too fast. Boil once a day for all your water for tea & coffee.

Ok so it’s expensive for the quality but is it worth it for the Eco
Had really high hopes for this, love the idea insulated kettle to keep the water warm after it’s boiled. Quality let’s it down a bitCouple of issues- The lid comes fully off by rotating using the pour lever, not an issue yet but can see it being an issue in future if someone forces it.- The writing that tells you which way to rotate the lid is already wearing off- The button to heat the water doesn’t feel very premium- There is no alert to tell you the kettle has boiled- The kettle makes a noise once it has boiled when it releases pressure, seems to bleed this off gradually.- You do have to tip it up quite far whilst depressing the handle to pour it although you can get round this by removing the topThat said is it all worth it for the benefits, it works for me as it’s easy and convenient but actually it may be more eco to boil and decant into a sealed flask. Can’t say yet if I’d buy another one see how it holds up

New Vektra Scalds User's Hand When Remove Lid.
The media could not be loaded. DO NOT BUY THIS KETTLE.I've owned a Vektra 1.7 for 3 years and it was a fantastic kettle, keeping the water hot for hours. The switch broke so I ordered a new one. The new one collects steam, in the form of water - lots of water, in the lid. If you open the lid to pour quickly or for re-filling (remember the water stays at near boiling temperature for hours so chances are you may well open it again to top up while water is still hot) near-boiling hot water pours out from under the lid catch on to your hand.Because I think this is a very serious health and safety hazard and also because the previous kettle was so good, I raised this with Grunwerg, whose name appears on the box as manufacturer/supplier. The response I got could not have been less helpful and when, after much prompting, they eventually looked at the video they said: "this is due to how the kettle is being used and has nothing to do with manufacturing".I am appalled by their response: to blame the customer for misuse because I wanted to top up the kettle, to ignore the high probability of someone getting badly scalded and to ignore that I repeatedly said how happy we were with the very same kettle bought 3 years ago which never did this.Terrible customer service and a, previously, great kettle is now unusable.Unfortunately this appears to be the only vacuum kettle available. I've now put a thermos next to the kettle which is a pain but avoids repeated heating of kettle which is what sold the Vektra to me in the first place.

Too heavy, awkward to pour.
We bought this because it is an ecofreindly inivative product. However its too heavy for my wife's aging hands to grip and turn to the angle required to pour the water out. This is due to the sealed flask like design where the spout needs to be from the top of the kettle rather than from one side. You need to turn the flask almost upside down and operate a release lever to get the water to flow.

For a 'premium' kettle, you expect durability or the option of replacing broken parts
Adding to what a few other reviewers have found, the kettle itself is pretty good at keeping water hot enough that you can pour a fresh tea or coffee within the next couple of hours without needing to reheat. Even if you do have to reheat, it barely takes any time as the water is already hot.Unfortunately a few months after the warranty expired, the pouring trigger on the lid snapped off, meaning the only way to pour was to open the lid entirely, which is both more dangerous and also defeats the 'thermos' part of the design, as a bunch of heat escapes every time you open the lid.Contacted customer service and offered to purchase a replacement lid; they responded promptly but informed me that replacement parts are not available for this unit. It's pretty disappointing, as when you pay a little more for a 'nice' kettle, you expect it to last and certainly for replacement parts to be offered (at a reasonable price if you're out of warranty).Given what a lot of reviewers have said, I'd warn against buying this kettle unless you're happy paying that much for something that is fairly likely to break just after the warranty period expires. They don't seem reliable or durable enough to justify the cost.

Overall a good product that has lasted.
I have read reviews that this kettle was poorly built and easily broken but my family has been using this kettle for over 3 years now and heavily in the last 6 months (3-6 boils per day) and have so far had no issues. It is very handy to be able to boil the kettle once in the morning and tea be made over a couple of hours without needing to re-boil.It can be a little fiddly to pour when on the last cupful or so but this is hardly difficult and the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. For what it is worth I bought a second one for use on the boat as I thought the first was so good.

Does what it says
Great item. Water stays hot for over two hours but the outside remains room temperature even after its just boiled. It is rather heavy when filled so my husband needs to make the tea as I have fibromyalgia but that's ok with me 😉. Pricey but worth it and it looks good too
