The Barnes Book of English Country Dance Tunes - Volume 1 Unknown Binding

In my limited time playing ECD, every dance has been sent by callers with a preface delineating that "these tunes are in the Barnes books, look them up" and "these tunes are not in Barnes. Have a PDF." The de facto standard for the genre. Great tunes in readable size, with sane but interesting chord choices.My only quibble is the arrangements where line breaks come at odd places, but there's adequate space in the bottom line to accommodate those bars in a parallel way. But those are small potatoes: great book.The short-but-sweet appendix on accompaniment rhythm and style is very helpful as well.

Nothing to review - either you need this or you don't. It's an essential tool for English Country Dance musicians.I do wish the publisher would come up with an electronic alternative that protects their rights without making me lug three volumes around, or making me buy an iPad (in addition to my Windows laptop).

Quite useful for researching country tunes, the spiral binding is appreciated, as the book will be used on Music stands.

I love this book so much that the one I originally bought circa 2007 is cover-less with many torn and stained pages. I wore it completely out and have recently replaced it.

It's a good book, however, I ordered volume I (second edition) and received volume II. Now I don't want to order volume I in case I receive another volume II.

Wonderful centuries old tunes in a variety of keys...fun (and at times, challenging) to play!

Love the variety of tunes and the layout of the book. Thinking about volume 2.
