The History of Nintendo 1889-1980

The publisher, Pix'n Love Publishing, has always done an incredible job researching their books pertaining to an entertainment medium that still is very young. This is the most comprehensive look at the history of Nintendo from their inception until the time they really began a concerted effort into the video game market. The amount of pictures and images of the many creations of Nintendo throughout the years is truly amazing, and I have not found any web-site that remotely gets close to the presentation found in this book. While Nintendo is presently at a fork in the road, this book is a wonderful read for those that have an appreciation for Nintendo and want to have a better understanding on the history of how a card company go transform itself into a global video game company.

This is literally the HISTORY of the Nintendo company, its family and the games and product it produced from 1889-1980. I have yet to read ALL of this book but from what I have seen and read so far it is really AMAZING!! Before this book I had no idea Nintendo had been around over 100 years!! No idea they made card games, board games, ALL kinds of games, etc. The book is very thorough and covers A LOT of ground, has a very precise and detailed history, etc. And it is packed with hundreds of very clear full color pictures on almost every subject it covers!! If you love Nintendo and want to know about its past and how it came about then you NEED this book!!

Amazing book with information and photos you won't find anywhere else. I pictured the book as a coffee table sized book but it has the dimensions of a hardback book. But that doesn't diminish the great content inside.

The content of this book is unrivaled. Florent Gorges does an amazing job not only researching Nintendo's history and products, but also tracking down pictures of each item. I spent hours enjoying reading the history and flipping back and forth between the story and the products as they were mentioned. You'd be hard pressed to find a more complete listing. Unfortunately all that flipping led to a star deduction. You have to be really careful with this book as the binding is very week. Just turning some of the pages caused them to fall right out. This was really surprising as I was impressed with the binding and plastic dust cover jacket at first.

I really enjoyed reading about Nintendo history... one of the most important game company! The book also gives a lot of back history and political history of all the years. A must read.

Probably one of the most comprehensive books on Nintendo that I have ever read its well worth it !!!

First I'll review the Publisher: Don't buy any book from the publisher directly (Pix'n Love) they don't have a customer support and the don't replay to your emails.My shipment was lost in the way and the didn't do anything about it. Now let's review the book itself: The content is worth 4 stars. However, the papers is not sticky very well so it will go off easily (image attached). This happened in the first day it came, so it's clear a bad printing. I gave this book 1 star because you can never read it at this situation, so it almost useless (unless you take all the papers off by your self and reattached it as I did).
