excellent
The book for the most part was an excellent read. The author covers Saladin and his role prior to and during the crusade thoroughly. Additionally the author presents other common theories/interpretation regarding action and choices made by Saladin before presenting his own. The only slight issue I had was at times the author will quickly list of an assortment of names or places which can cause some confusion when reading, making it necessary to reread certain parts. Otherwise a great book.

An opportunity to explore the crusades from the other side.
I try to be open minded and broad spectrum with my reading and this was an interesting book because of the alternate view. It gave quite an insightful view of the man leading the opposing army. I also enjoyed learning about the cultures and goals of the two sides and how each brought their own unique perspective to the negotiations. Both sides learned from each other but remained rather far apart in understanding.SALADIN: Hero of Islam

Nice book for HIstory Lovers. Highly recommended
Amazing book. I love reading history books and this book has become one of my favorite. I love books which are written impartially. This book tells the history of that era nicely and without any partiality. High recommended.

Fascinating account of of a remarkable figure
A well researched account of a truly important historical figure. At times the narrative suffers from a loss of cohesion in chronology and difficult syntax. Nonetheless, Saladin emerges as a leader who had a significant, long-lasting effect on the shaping of the Middle East.

Very Good Book.
Use of sources from both sides of the historical accounts during the second and third crusades helped make this book worth the read. There is no doubt after reading this book, Saladin was a special and capable leader in an extraordinary period in history.
